hola All! Buenos dias! Just practicing my Spanish in case I get the job. Would have to learn as 85% of the population of the school is hispanic. I'm a little intimidated to learn a new language, but willing to try. Hoping to hear something soon.
Kids are having friends over for lunch and swimming in pool today. Four boys - God help me.

D&D: pixiedust:They just have to see what a kind and loving person you are and just have to have you for a VP!
BTW---DS7 is much cuter and smarter than Regis! I can just hear him making up those questions. :teacher:
Awww... thanks M&N. You are too kind.
I'll agree DS7 is smarter and cuter than Regis. :thumbsup2 The questions he was making up were mostly presidential. But I am sure you knew that already!

I have a few outfits washed and ready for lil one. Just the couple onesies I bought in disneyworld. And a few little things that I got handed down from my sisters kids. I'm sure we will have lots more after the baby shower coming up at the end of August.
Hi LITC! I so can relate to your feeling uncomfortable. DS was so big at the end that I could barely breath. Also felt so sick the last 4 weeks. :crazy2: More so than at the beginning. You hang in there!

I know I brought up about Curt's next tattoo but never posted any ideas. And I'm sure most of you are not into tattoos but it's actually something that we like. :goodvibes Even if you don't like them personally, I would love some feedback on what we are thinking.
This is the basic design that we are working with. Curt told me what he was looking for and I searched the web.
nwa3-star.jpg

he could get it on his forearm, he's got the room on one of them. But we are thinking on his back, between his shoulder blades. Pretty close to his neck. And in the staggered look.
He would add another star...each one signifying one of the kids. Each one of the kids would pick their favorite color and have the star in that color. On a curve through the star, he would have their name and birth date.
For the miniature stars above the bigger stars, he would start in black and have them slowly blend into each bigger star color. For example, if DS and DD13 picked blue and green, he would start in black, fade to a blue color and eventually mesh into a green color. And so forth into each of the colors all this kids pick.
That design sounds great! :thumbsup2 I personally like tatoos on the upper back or lower back (for women if I'd get one) Adding the kids names would be a nice touch. My SIL just got a tatoo on her upper back of her DD's hand print. DD is 1 year old. It is cute! I don't think I'd have the guts to get one but I do love the artwork of the tatoo artists.

Hey I've checked in but you're sign says Bobsmom so, I don't know if there is someone else you are speaking of.:lmao:
I'm taking DM, DD to NYC tomorrow and am kinda' nervous about that.
I don't know why but, I am.
Hey Bobsmom...have a great time in NYC this weekend. You will have to post here when you get back. We expect pics and details! ::yes::

I had a little visitor last night. Her name is Grace and she's 2 1/2. I'm in love! So cute, so smart. Such a little personality. I told BF that if I won any money on Millionaire we're going to have a baby. I think he's kinda glad I didn't make it!
You know....accidents do happen. ;)

Hey everyone!

I vote for Cirque. I saw it and it is fantastic. I wasn't thrilled about going. I thought it would be nice to see but when I left I was hooked. I would go again in a heartbeat. There's just so much to watch. We had seats up a little and felt we could see better than down around the stage.

I vote for the stars too! Loved the color and name idea. If I ever got one (which I cannot see myself doing), I would do a hiddeen Mickey! :rotfl:

D&D--I'm sure your ds's would help you learn Spanish. They say it's easier if you are younger! I think the incentive would be good if it meant a job for you! Let us know...

Well EV-I guess kids will try anything once to see if it'll work! Hopefully, he learned the first time!

Ok, so I called about Cirque and apparently the reservations system is down. Is it a sign? I'm really kinda pushing towards Cirque. I'm thinking maybe I can bribe BF with a stop at Goofy's Candy Company in exchange.

D&D....I would think after such an extensive interview, you're at the top of their list! Sorry I can't help with the Spanish. I have read lots of things lately about people bartering for services. Maybe you can find someone who can teach you Spanish and you can teach them something else? I know my local continuing education program here does teach Spanish, maybe you could look into that?

:rolleyes1 Hmm....accidents. They do say there is something in that Disney water....

Hey I've checked in but you're sign says Bobsmom so, I don't know if there is someone else you are speaking of.:lmao:

I come on and read but, just don't say too much. I've been reading about ya'lls adventures on FB mostly and feel like I am staying connected. I just haven't had too much to talk about lately.

I'm taking DM, DD to NYC tomorrow and am kinda' nervous about that.
I don't know why but, I am.

Duh, I've had that their for a long time and never even noticed. :headache: :rotfl: I'll take you out of there for now but if you don't post a smilie every once in a while, I'll put it back in there and as Bobsmom too. :rotfl2:

I hope you have a wonderful trip tomorrow.

Well, you know we're all not on facebook! You could at least post a smilie everynow and then. Besides, I hardly ever have anything earth shattering to talk about and you know it hasn't stopped me! :rotfl: Are you driving to NYC? I would be nervous too. You need MagiKitty's number...she's an expert there! Hope you had a good day.

It's cloudy here---again---and getting hotter. I hope Racer's happy. Going to 90's on Sunday!
I guess you're right. I could post something.

ist2_437828_giant_smiley_big_smile.jpg

Driving:eek:? Not from Houston.
We are flying in tomorrow morning (translates to being at airport at 5:45am) and we get there at 11am.
I am taking DD to see Little Mermaid Saturday night before it closes on Broadway and (*fingers crossed*) I will take her backstage to meet the male lead (someone she really likes but I'm not supposed to know about).
She and DM have been wanting to go so, I told DM that I would help her with her 'bucket list' :rotfl:

Magic Kitty-Come on girl- I don't get up there too often. Love to see you if you are around. I'll buy ya' dinner and drinks if you are in town.
DH is staying home with Wink and will be going to Ohio to see football in the fall (his vacation). I guess we are at the stage of life where we take seperate vacations.:headache:

I bought us all a City Pass and I have spent days learning the subway.

We are staying at the Belevedere and the location looks good. I will report back to let ya'll know how it is.
I am taking my laptop so I hope I can check in while there.

I was on NYC subway 1 with someone who was living there. We had to go down 2 levels for one! Not again! A friend told me the bus that you can get on and off wherever you want was a good deal. I think they are double decker ones. Make sure you are keeping a list for her for her bucket list! I think it sounds like it will be very long! That's great experiences to have. I've been to 2 broadway shows but can't put them on my list because I forgot the names! :rotfl: Have a great time. There's nothing wrong with separate vacations...why spend/waste money on something you would not enjoy?

MagiKitty---no, it's only a sign that their equipment is not working! :lmao:You do all the planning...you should be able to go! How is Edward's visa problem working out?

Bopsmom...I would love to meet with you and the girls, but this weekend is the family celebration of my Dad's birthday. My brother and his family have returned from Georgia, and my sister and cousins may be up here also. Darn! I don't normally have plans!

I personally love the subway, but it can get pretty hairy. Most stations have cops, so feel free to stop them and ask for help. I love City Pass! I've never done it in NYC, but I have in LA and it was wonderful. One tip from me, if you do plan to go to the top of the Empire State building, go at night. Its absolutely gorgeous and I always pretend I'm Meg Ryan from Sleepless in Seattle.

M&N...thanks for asking about Edward. He actually proposed to me the other day. The boy is getting desperate! :rotfl2: BF was NOT thrilled to hear that another man is proposing to me. Edward's work basically messed up. Its too late for him to file an extension and he cannot be sponsored by another work. So he's looking into getting a student visa, at least until he can find another job that is willing to sponsor him. Its a huge mess and I feel so bad for him.

In regards to Cirque, as an AP holder, I have to call in to get the promo. I also have to ask for handicapped accessible seats. So I'm at Disney's mercy for the time being...

D&DDisney Como esta usted? how are you? :)

racetrack18kb The tattoo sounds good. Always wanted a butterfly on my hip..glad now I don't. :scared1: Oh what it would look like now. :rotfl2:

Don't you think someone should be examined if they want to marry an inanimate object?!
I hope I don't offend, but I like the kiddie leash. The kiddie doesn't have to have his hand above his head if holding an adult's hand. Of course I don't believe in dragging him down the street either. I tried taking my cat (no longer with us) but that ended up in a dragging down the street. :rotfl:

DL55....who wants to marry an inanimate object? I guess it would depend on what it was...and if there was money involved! Kidding....:lmao:

I don't think I'm opposed to the leash. Some kids are downright fast! And if you have more than one, they can totally get away from you. Also, I'm usually juggling my bag, keys, and if you throw in a kid somewhere in there, also sorts of bedlam will ensue! The kid gets some exercise, you know that the kid can't get too far. Its a win-win in my opinion.

I saw that footage also. Strange, that someone didn't have any problem getting out their phone to video it, but not to stop the Mom from dragging the kid! And sorry, if she has pneumonia, she shouldn't be out shopping, let alone taking her kid out for a walk! Also, I don't really think that kid is fighting the drag. Either he's used to it, or he thinks he's going for a ride. I personally wouldn't drag my kid (not very far at least), but I've seen kids go POOF! floppy when they're acting up, and sometimes you have to force them to move.

MagiKitty I was responding to the thread about some one engaged to some ride at an amusement park. I didn't bother to read the news account nor all of the thread. I didn't look at the video of the dragging either, but the kid could of just flopped down in protest just before the video was taken. :confused3

Phooey. The Dis is messing me up today.

I had to go check out that thread. Okay....someone's a little wacko. I know a good man is hard to find and all....

At the very least, if I were to marry an inanimate object, it would at least be a cheesecake or a blooming onion...something I could take home and have some "alone time" with! :rotfl2:

So who's going to make the poll? What inanimate object would you marry? We've already got cheesecake and blooming onion. I would add hot fudge sundae but it would melt too fast!

M&N...are you an ice cream girl? I only like ice cream as an accessory to pie....gosh I'm so craving something right now! I ate a cucumber sandwich for lunch, and cucumbers are mostly water, so I have some spare calories somewhere....I'm almost sure of it.

Oooh....that family of the high drinkin crasher is claiming that she hardly ever drank. So she decided on the day that she would drive 5 kids home that she would just happen to bring a bottle of vodka? And have more than 6 ounces of undigested alcohol in her stomach? Please....DENIAL is not just a river in Egypt! grr....

For me it's pork rinds. I must restrict myself to holidays only or I'd overdose. :lmao: But I finished reading the thread, apparently the woman has Asperers (sp?). This is common as they have difficulty in relating to people. Now I feel bad about laughing. :guilty:

Thursday August 6 Edinburgh

For breakfast, we were set up in a suite rather than the main restaurant. The downside was that the food was not nearly as good or as varied. The upside was knowing everyone there and being able to sit with someone else. I sat with Alanna and Carl. Afterwards, I ran out to the ATM to get some cash before boarding the coach for our tour of Edinburgh.

Our guide, Pat, was great. She was very knowledgeable (she’s been doing this for 26 years), and easy to hear and understand. It helped that I was in row 2 of the coach! We started our tour in New Town, and Pat told us all about Robert Louis Stevenson. We saw the house where he lived as a small, sickly boy, and heard about how he would watch the lamplighter come to light the street lamps each evening. It was kind of sad, really. We then drove past Arthur’s Seat, a flat area of the mountain which was formed from an old volcano.

Our first stop was the Palace of Holyrood (Holy Cross) Apparently the king was out hunting on a Holy Day, and was attacked by an animal. He prayed for forgiveness and promised to build an abbey on the site if he could be spared. The animal got tangled in his cross necklace, struggled free, and ran away. So he built the abbey and called it Holyrood. It’s from the 12th century, but is mostly in ruins. The part still standing is beautiful though. The palace itself was built by King James 4 and 5. It is enormous! The rooms (which we were unfortunately unable to photograph) were all huge, and very ornate. In the Grand Gallery there are paintings of all the kings and queens of Scotland. When the king had them all done, of course no one knew what these people had looked like (way, way, way before photographs!) so he rounded up people from around the countryside and painted them, and then just put the king’s nose on all of them!

We saw part of the royal apartments, where the current royal family stays when they visit. These are rooms they actually use! The queen comes up every June for a week, bringing 200 staff and servants!!! Good gussie, no wonder the taxes here are so high!

We drove up through the city, passing the University and the museum, and we got a nice closeup of Greyfriar’s Bobby. This little dog belonged to a policeman (long, long ago). When the man died, the dog marched along in the funeral procession and laid down on the grave. The local shopkeepers would entice him away with food, but every evening, before the graveyard was locked up for the night, Bobby would be back at his master’s grave. When he died, 14 years later, he was buried nearby. What a nice little doggie!

Next we went to the castle. Unlike last year, when we were totally fogged in, the view today was magnificent! I had already seen the Crown Jewels and the War Memorial, but I did go and see St. Margaret’s Abbey and also the POW display. I took lots of pictures too, of all the buildings there. I walked down from the castle to Princes Street, stopping to get a Tshirt for Danny and postcards for Mom. I also got some bottled water from M&S--much cheaper there than at the hotel!

Tea at the Palm Court was at 2:30, with Peg & Pete and Alice Ann & Dick. It was delicious! The sandwiches were sort of odd combinations, but were very good. I still like the egg mayonnaise best! There were 3 kinds of scones, with jam and clotted cream, and 4 different cakes. (one was mocha and another was just gross, so I skipped those 2) We had a good time.

From there I headed out in search of a luggage lock and a mohair coat. I had found a lock at Jenners department store, but it wasn’t TSA approved, and the one that was was a huge thing with a strap--not what I wanted. The concierge had sent me over to the shopping mall, but the store he mentioned didn’t have them. I finally did find one at the big department store in there. So now I can lock my luggage on the way home! I then went down to the store the concierge had called about the mohair coats. Unfortunately, he did not specify women’s coats, and they only had one, which was too small, and not a good color. So I guess I am out of luck on this one. Maybe I will treat myself to a cashmere sweater instead. In any event, it was a very long walk, so I probably burned off a good bit of my tea!

I went back to the room to rest awhile before setting out again for more shopping/browsing and a light dinner. I went out about 6 and walked up to the Royal Mile. The Fringe Festival people were out in force! 5 people dressed in Superman costumes, but with an ‘M’ instead of the ‘S’. People with hair dyed neon colors in bizarre styles. Street performers and speakers. And crowds. LOTS of crowds! I got some castle postcards for Mom and looked in quite a few cashmere and woolen stores. I found a really nice cashmere sweater for a reasonable price, but the Large was much too big, and the Medium was just a wee bit snug. Oh well. I love all the wool capes and wraps, but I honestly can’t see myself wearing one at home. And nothing else really struck my fancy.

About 7 I decided to find somewhere to have dinner. A few places looked good, but had long waits. I stumbled upon a tiny little place offering sandwiches and baked potatoes. Perfect! I ordered a baked potato with cheese and beans, and sat down with my Kindle for a nice, relaxing meal. When I finished, and started back down the Royal Mile, my feet and knees informed me in no uncertain terms that they had had quite enough walking for the day, thank you very much. So I returned to the hotel about 8 and gave them a much needed rest.

Hey, pork rinds are good. They have NO carbs! I was sooo excited! I'm counting carbs, not calories. :yay:

I do like ice cream but only because you can put chocolate over it!

SUPER DUPER CONGRATS D&D! sorry I can't say that in Spanish. And in Filipino, you'd just say it in English anyway....but the sentiment is the same! Woo-hoo!

Pork rinds are really good dipped in vinegar with some chilis in it. I figure your body has to work off te chili, and M&N is right, no carbs---so its actually good for you! Yum!

Ok, crazy older nephew story again. What am I going to do with him??? His dad drove him up to school today. Classes don't start until the end of the month, but he figures he's paying for rent off campus anyway, so he'll go. He's miserable after three hours. Wants to come back. Taking the bus. I almost want to pick him up and take him to my brother's house just to see my brother go nuts on him....

OMG! John Hughes the movie maker died today! He was my 80's movie god!

¡Soy tan feliz sobre su trabajo! :yay::yay:
Si usted vive donde hacemos usted tiene que saber algún español.

El DD es en su 2o año del español de Escuela Secundaria ahora.

Cinco años del latín no duelen tampoco.

I hope you love the job!
