Good morning everyone! Happy anniversary, happy birthday, feel better soon, survive the hail and do fantastic at the Special Olympics! Did I get everything? Gosh you guys were chatty yesterday and OF COURSE I missed it all!

Lazy day today for us girls. I had a good laugh this morning when I went to wake DS up. He's usually like his dad, a real grump, but not this morning. I told him to wake up so he could get in the shower. He started running his head and said "Wasn't I already in there?" It was so funny! Guess, you had to be there. Anyway, I'd love it if he was like that every morning that I had to wake him up.



You guys are making me hungry! DD and I have been waiting with lunch for the guys to get back home. DS ended up having a workday after his Jiu-Jitsu class. DH forgot to call and let me know. GRRRRR! 3:00 now.... I think I am getting WEAK!

I've been trying to keep everyone well here at home.
Yes, thanks to DH's work near Mexico we all got Swine Flu-yep, CDC knows us now. We have passed it around for the past month. We were all bad-high fevers, tired, coughinng and thought we were on the mend. Heck we went to the DriveIn last Saturday. It snuck back up on all of us.
We have been going to ER and doctors for the past 3 weeks. This stuff is awful and if they make a vaccine-get it!!!!! I know some are against vaccines but the secondary infections are terrible.
DD is still croopy and got not only a respiratory infection but, her first case of pink eye ever!. The doctor said she was just going to be prone to everything and boy was he right.

DH has a secondary lung infection too. He had to go to the clinic for antibiotic today.
I have walking pnemonia and have been being treated for 2 weeks.
Moms have to 'play hurt' so no matter how terrible I feel I still have to take care of everyone.
So much fun here at home.
Lots of antibiotics and tonight I made Gumbo(it was supposed to be chicken soup). It's feels like almost 100 degrees outside so making soup is weird.

I am sorry I haven't checked in here too much.

I have loved getting to see you/ reading about you all daily on Facebook.
I haven't been able to see my Mom for weeks because we don't want her to get sick so I have been missing her too.

Oh my, Bopsmom! I can honestly say that you are the only person I have known to get that nasty flu. I know the common flu is bad enough so you and your family certainly have my sympathy. I hope and pray you all get feeling better real soon! Be sure to try to take care of yourself at least a little while you are taking care of everyone else.

Funny thing was we were supposed to be at WDW this last week.
I guess it was a good thing we cancelled the trip afterall. It would have been terrible to be there sick.
I want to use the money we 'saved' to fix things up around here. I made the poor choice of having white kitchen cabinets and boy do they need painting. They are chipped up after 9 years. I just don't feel inspired to paint them a different color.

I can't wait to hear about ya'lls trips this summer. It will be my virtual vacation.

Good Sunday morning! Looks like its going to be a good one here today....until, of course, tonight when the Lakers and Magic have their game 5. The NBA finals are killing me! Great basketball, love OT, but its on so late!

Bopsmom, I am so so sorry to hear that everyone has been so sick! Please take care of yourself and take it easy. Being run down taking care of everything just wears you down and makes you more susceptible to things. Sending you huge Get Well vibes!

We are finally getting a little warmer weather here...pool still too cold to swim in...but there's hope!

Yesterday we had a BBQ down at a friend's cottage...Lake Huron is still freezing but the kids went in anyways. Here's a pic of the view we had during dessert...not too often is the lake that calm. The kids were throwing driftwood into the water.

It is finally warm enough to go in the pool. Its about 84 here and perfect. Don't need it to get any warmer. Can just stay like this all summer.

More storms rolling in tonight. DH says they are saying there's a possiblity of baseball size hail.

You stay safe there Marie. Did you have much flooding??? Heard the Dallas area got it quite hard this past week.

Hey M&N, I don't think I ever mentioned that a few years back for DH 30th birthday I threw him a nascar themed birthday party and one of my gifts to him was a #8 car signed by Kerry, Jr, Sr, and Tony Eury.
So we are obviously a Earnhardt family!

Yeah---Someone else on my side!!! That car is a treasure. I hope your DH appreciates you!

I am probably in the minority but I would take getting older any day over getting younger. Of course, I am not 50 yet so it may look different then!

No way would I want to be a teen now. I thought it was hard then! There just seems to be so much more pressure now. I try and be thankful for every day I have. That's one reason I retired when I was able instead of working longer. I want to be able to enjoy life while I am still healthy. I've been able to do favors for people and I know I would not have been able to stand the pressure much longer. I just don't work well under pressure. Some of it I know I put on myself. No turning back the clock here either.

I do like a kiddie meal once in a while. Its a perfect size. I like to get the chocolate milk.

This is funny....I got a text from Shmu telling me to ignore any previous texts. Seems she was trying to text her daughter and got me instead! But it was nice to hear from her...

I really think you can get chocolate milk and not get the kiddie meal. We all know you just want the toy.

Bopsmom: WOW! So glad you checked in. Prayers for your family. We don't always know why things work out the way they do...but you sure wouldn't want to be sick on vacation. And we always can find good ways to spend that money.

D&D: I saw a van from Wisconsin in HersheyPark's lot today...you didn't come early did you?

The show at HP was really great today. It was Tony Orlando. It was about 85min. They are usually 1 hr. He was goofing off with people in the audience so that may have made it longer. I didn't stay for the 2nd show. Sometimes they are the same show but this one would have been worth it. He's about 67! Not much grey either. He teased about the weight he lost...looked good!

I hope the TKer meet in VA Beach was fun...

Had a GREAT weekend! DD apparently has traded in her arms for waterwheels. She ended up with a silver in a team medley relay, and 3 golds, for 50M freestyle, 50M backstroke, and a team freestyle relay!

We are sooooooooo proud of our little fishy! I will post pix when I am not so tired. Absolutely exhausted, and my voice is gone too. Guess I cheered louder than I should have...

BKMETV, your picture is beautiful! It is hard to take a bad photo of a sunset. They make really good subjects.

D&DDisney, we managed to escape the heavy part of the storm. No hail either. It has been raining really good but no flooding yet. We tend to get floods about once or twice a year which can be rather inconvenient because the main road always gets under water. Thankfully, we know the "back roads" to get around it and it usually goes down in a couple of days. I have dealt with it for the past 28 years so we pretty much know what to expect. I feel sorry for all the new folks who have moved to "the country" and have no idea how to get around it. Never fails that one of them will take a chance and get washed off the road. There are so many people with no common sense.

M&N, glad to hear someone agree with me on not wanting to turn back the clock! I'm don't always make the brightest decisions now but when I was younger I did so many stupid things I would never want to go back! I am just glad to be at a place in my life now where I am so blessed, not always in turmoil and feel relatively stable. Some people hate ruts but we love ours!
How old were you when you retired? My DH has talked about how he would like to retire early for years. There are a few problems with his idea though. First off we have done a horrible job of saving for his retirement. With me staying home with the kids we have chosen to make somewhat of a sacrifice in the financial department, but it has been so worth it. Still it does not leave a lot left to put back. Even more than the lack of savings though is the lack of desire to stop spending! I have pretty much leveled out on things I want but DH always seems to need that something else which generally comes with a steep price tag. And, it always amazes me how he just EXPECTS the money to be there. Maybe someday he will realize that he is certainly helping to delay his own retirement.

LivinInTheCastle, you really do need to learn to post pictures! Do you already have the pics on your computer? I bet we could get you started.

I actually overslept this morning for church! I never sleep late! For the past couple weeks I have been waking up about 6:30 so I guess it finally caught up to me. Anyone ever notice that it is harder to get up on Sunday? We always say it's because the old devil is working on us. Well, he didn't win this time. We didn't make it for classes but we did make it for the auditorium services. Afterwards, I picked up DD from children's church. The teacher was telling me how she gets a good laugh at her son and my DD. They have a love-hate relationship. Being a boy he really loves annoying her. And she, well.... she loves to always get in the last word and is always up for a good argument. Apparently they tend to clash but in a playful sort of manner rather than a bad way. Can't wait to see how they act towards each other when they become teenagers. He's a cute kid now so she may change her tune in a few years and he may change the manner in which he picks on her.
