Do you have a Mandees near you? They always have converse on their clearance rack. My nieces love them too...

I am so freakin excited for the US vs. Canada hockey game tomorrow....

No, we don't have one of those around here. If I avoid getting them at a Foot Locker or those type stores, I can usually find them on sale. JC Penney is pretty good about having them on sale.

I can't wait either. Do you know what time the game is on?

Bite your tongue, Wendy, about another storm. I don't even want to hear the s-word for another 10 years at this point. And by that point, my butt better be living in FL. :rotfl2:

:lmao: And I'd better be living right down the road from you!

OMG Jo, you're gonna be 40? You're just a baby! Me? It's gonna be the big 5-0 this year.

Had a BIG scare today. Now, keep in mind we've been gone since Thursday morning. Last time I cooked was Wednesday dinner. Well, this afternoon, I went to check a recipe in the box over by the stove, and realized it was quite warm over there. Turns out the one burner was ON! It must have been on since Wednesday dinner, just set so low I couldn't see it. We are damn lucky the house didn't burn down. Thank the Lord nothing happened. I don't want to see my gas bill this month...

Well, peace and quiet has ended. It's been just me and DD since yesterday morning, and it's been sheer heaven. We've laughed, talked, shopped, visited with my parents, had massages, played with the dog, baked cookies, visited our neighbors, watched TV, and just had a really nice time. But now DS is back. I think he was in the house 5 minutes before I had to tell him to shut up.:confused3 I really would love to send him to live with his father for awhile, but it ain't gonna happen. So we'll just have to enjoy these little breaks when we can. *sigh*

The news about Chile's earthquake, and the tsunami warnings, so sad. Amazing all the weird stuff going on. I really wonder sometimes if God is trying to get our attention. If so, I wonder just what it will take.

OMG Wendy! That is so so scary! God was really watching over you and your home.

So glad to hear you had a wonderful time with DD...

THe game starts at 3pm! Does that conflict with your race? I thought you mentioned it was in Vegas..will it start at night for you?

Wendy, thank God everything turned out ok. My kids always laugh at me because I constantly check the burners here. Even if I haven't cooked all day, I'll still check the burners. And because of what happened with you, I'm going to remind them how easy it is to miss something.

I hear you about DS. Mine is really pushing it lately. We went to the mall tonight and were going to go out to dinner. He broke the one clothing rule that we have. If you want to wear baggy pants, you better wear a belt because we don't want to see your boxers. It is the one clothing rule DH and I are are in complete agreement about. He's been told about it time and time again and we thought we had gotten through. DH asked him before we left if he had his belt on and DS looked him right in the eye and said yes. I'm walking behind him in the mall and his pants look funny. I walk up behind him and pull his coat up a little and sure enough half his butt is sticking out.

That is the only rule we have about clothing and he deliberately tried to get around the rule. It may sound stupid but we do not approve of that look at all.

MK, the race starts at 3 also. But I can put the race on the computer until the game is over.

Good morning!

Pikester...you enjoying that bath?

Its coupon day. I'm getting ready to play my grocery shopping. Especially since we're expecting ANOTHER storm on Wednesday. I have to drive tomorrow, so that leaves today (until the hockey game) and Tuesday to get all my errands done...including all the stuff I wasn't able to do last week!

JOCA...I think that's an excellent rule you have for DS. I mean, really, what good does it do to have your pants hanging off of you? even better, why would you want it to? I've had pants hanging down before and it is not comfortable and the idea of having a mishap just embarrasses me.

hey, is that the sun I see?

JOCA...are you watching NBC? They're doing a profile on Apolo as they close the Olympics....or is everyone playing on FB?

Watched the end of the Hockey Game. I know the USA lost to Canada but they could have atleast pasted on a little smile for the cameras while getting their silver medals.

MK, I missed it. It's Sunday so it's scrub down day for the kids before they go back to school. I mean they take showers all week but on Sundays, we make sure they do a good job. The joys of parenthood. :rotfl:

I missed the medal ceremony too because as soon as the game was over, DH turned the channel.

I'm not making lite of the fact that Team USA lost and they are allowed to feel disappointed and upset but they looked like a bunch of sad sacks out there on the ice. I felt bad for them yet at the same time wanted to shout at the TV for them to buck up.

I felt so bad for Ryan Miller...you could tell he was taking it hard...but come on, you just got the silver medal! A lot of people didn't think the team would do as well as that...

It was a great game! I was jumping and screaming. I thought Canada had it before that last goal.

So, everyone's scrubbed down, JOCA?

Yup, all scrubbed down. Reading homework is done for the month, and all that is left to do is make lunches.

I did see the US team walk in during closing ceremonies and they looked much happier.

I almost don't remember what its like without the Olympics on all the time.

I hope to get back to normal this week. I have to get to the bank and the post office tomorrow or else I"m gonna be in trouble!

The storm they're predicting for mid-week is getting stronger...

We have some little storm coming early tomorrow morning. My area is suppose to get 1-4 inches from some storm that is coming up the coast and being sucked into the system that just dumped all that nasty rain and wind on us the other night. There are atleast 4 towns that are still without power. I feel so bad for them. We had one block of a seacoast town burn down the night of the big storm. A beach hotel, arcade, candy store and a few other stores burnt to the ground because the winds blew the fire out of control.

OMG Pikester! What a story! Its amazing how long this storm recovery is supposed to take. Its supposed to be warm here tomorrow, but now they're worrying about it melting and refreezing during the night which would be really treacherous.

I'm trying to watch the closing ceremonies. I'm having a really hard time paying attention to it.

Oh, that's horrible Pikester. Such a horrible, wicked storm it was all around.

We are actually not suppose to get anything from this upcoming storm. No, actually, I just checked. We may get a passing flurry on Wednesday. And they are also saying that next week, we may get close to 50. Woohoo, I sure hope so.

MK, you be careful if all that water freezes back up. Ice is the absolute worst.

Oh Pikester, how awful!! You don't hear of that happening so much anymore, since firefighting is so much more sophisticated. But the wind just messes everything up. I hope no one was hurt.

JO, I 100% agree on the droopy pants issue. DS pulled that exactly once. I walked over and just yanked his pants right off of him. He never did it again. Now, DD, OTOH, seems to be in training to be a plumber. I swear she does it to make me nuts. The pants aren't too big, or baggy, she just like to pull them down and wear them hanging off her a**. I've yanked hers down more than once, and she just thinks it's funny. So now I ignore it and hope it will lose it's appeal...someday!

Today DD and I went to Dad's, had lunch with him and then went shopping to get him a new console table for his dialysis machine. We found one at Best Buy for $99!! DD and I put it together for him, and he says it's perfect. Much better than the heavy old dresser he was trying to use. We took so long there wasn't time for a run to Whole Foods, so I'm going back down tomorrow to do that.

Can't believe the Olympics are over. I hardly watched anything--just too darned busy lately. Hopefully this week things will settle down. Of course, I've got to catch up on all the stuff that's been swept under the rug for the past few weeks. I'm still trying to grasp the idea that tomorrow is MARCH 1!! Don't know where the time went. But only 19 days til Spring!
