Thinking about getting TIW card. We get AP or DVC discounts where available, but this sounds like a better deal. My question is, are they valid for a calendar year (1/1-12/31) or are they like the annual passes (xx/xx/10-xx/xx/11)? Is alcohol included? I think I read it is, but wanted to make sure.

They are like annual passes. We got ours this past weekend and it expires 7/23/11.

I can tell you, the 75.00 we paid, we saved over 55.00 throughout the course of the weekend with just four of us. i LOVE IT.

And the Disney Dining website does not correctly list the places that take the discount. It does not show Boma, Biergarten, Hoop dee Doo, Spirit of aloha etc., but they all take the card. Every table service does.

We also found ESPN to be a great value. We were staying at Boardwalk and my kids wanted lunch there twice. SO inexpensive.

We are liking this plan WAY better than the Disney Dining Plan which is too much food.

Oh and yes, unlike our AP discounts, the 20% is off alcohol too.

It can only be used for table service meals, right? No quick service places take it, right?

I've done DxDP twice and honestly, it's just too much food, too much planning. I'm looking forward to taking a trip (this November) where the parks are the focus, not the ADRs. I made ADRs but ONE table service/day, not THREE! I plan on using the CS places to fill in the gaps.

I have an AP, and plan on getting the TIW card in Nov. Do you purchase it at Guest Information? TIA!

TiW vs. DDP comes down to this.... If you eat at all really expensive restaurants and 2-3 meals a day, then it may be worth getting DDP cuz the price per day remains the same regardless of meal prices. However, if you look around at some of Disney's more reasonable places, the TiW can save you alot of money. We usually pick one or two expensive places (Le Cellier, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's), and try to keep the rest of the restaurants a little cheaper (Sci Fi, LTT)

The TiW discount is 20 % off of food and alcohol at most TS restaurants. an 18 % gratuity is added. It is good for the card holder and up to 9 additional guests on the same check. There are black out dates around the major holidays.
There are a few, not many, CS places included.
I believe the dinner shows are only for the late seating.

We have used DDE/TiW for many years now. It's great!

The CS places at the value resorts take it, since they don't have a TS restaurant. Also FlameTree and Pizzafari at AK.

Not good at pool bars. BUT is good at the bars in your resort.

Can my DD11 purchase a TIW card? I currently have an AP & TIW card that will expire in April 2011. I am not renewing my AP, but DD will be getting an AP because we're planning trips for April 2011 and Nov 2011. Since DD is 11, she will be purchasing an adult AP. Since she will have an adult AP, can she get a TIW card, or do you have to be 18? I couldn't find anything on the website. Thanks! :goodvibes

a great bonus. BlueZoo and Shula's are two of the best places to eat on WDW property and the 20% discount is wondreful

Couldn't you just buy the new TIW card just before your AP expires? As long as your AP is still valid when you buy the TIW, it shouldn't be a problem, would it?

The other thing I like about the TIW option over the dining plan is that it is 20% off of what you want to order. If you want an appetizer and no dessert then you can order that and get 20% off with the TIW. With the dining plan you would need to pay out of pocket for the appetizer and then would get a dessert even if you really didn't want dessert.

Bottom line is that TIW gives you more flexibility on ordering things than the regular dining plan does.

Plus DH and I really enjoy some of the signature restaurants. Since the signature restaurants take two points on the dining plan they often aren't a good value if using dining plan points. However with the TIW card you don't really need to worry about that.

I didn't think of that. I wonder if they'll let me do that though since I'd be buying TIW in the beginning of April and my AP will expire at the end of April.
