TiW Special Event

I know this was mentioned on one of the recent podcast segments as well. Just got an email from TiW about one of their special events in March - "The Great Movie Ride Dinner at Disneys Hollywood Studios". Its being offered on two nights, March 7th and 8th from 8 - 10:30 pm. By coincidence, Val & I will be in Orlando then and its got us seriously considering going. However the price is a major stumbling block for us - $195/person plus tax!!!!

Arrive at Disneys Hollywood Studios® and walk through the courtyard of the Majestic Graumann's Chinese Theatre. Then you will be invited to come inside The Great Movie Ride after the attraction is closed with exclusive backstage VIP access!

We've cleared the track for you to walk through and dine inside the attraction where you will experience some of the most classic scenes in motion picture history. Sets from Busby Berkeley musicals, crime dramas, old-fashioned Westerns, and more!

8:00  8:30 p.m. Passed Reception in the Gangster Scene
Roasted Red Pepper Cheese Stuffed Foccacia Cement Shoes
Gangster Charred Beef with Smokey Apple Pear Glaze
Peppered Shotgun Stool Pigeon with Lavender Aioli


8:30  10 p.m. Plated Dinner in the Western Scene
Local Three Boys Farms Greens with Land Grown Mickey Cucumbers, Ruskin Tomato and Chick Pea Croutons, with Desert Cactus Flower Vinaigrette
Mesquite Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Whiskey Mushrooms paired with Black Skillet Seared U-10 Scallop with Roasted Corn, Cilantro and Chiles. Served with Grilled Asparagus, Yukon Gold Mash with Sour Cream, Bacon Drippings and Caramelized Onion
House made Western Sage Rosemary Bread with Butter

Just adding on that it does sound like a great evening. But is it really worth more than a dinner at Victoria & Alberts with wine pairings?

If Dh and I were already in WDW for a trip I would do this in a heartbeat. We would both love to do one of these, but to actually fly down just for this is quite a stretch. Hmmmm, a stretch we actually do consider from time to time.

I remember listening to that episode of the podcast and thought it would be amazing to do this. If I had the opportunity to do this I think I would jump at the chance. The part that really sounds fun is the time to look around at the different scenes within the ride and to be able to take pictures. I say do it.

Jeff, you and Val would love this. I had a wonderful time when I did it with Pete, John, Kevin. You will never look at this attraction the same way after you do it. Go for it!!

You guys should definitely go for it! You're at that level of WDW visits that awards such a luxury of time and experience!

That is a hefty price tag- but it is also an experience you can't get any other way. You can go back to V&A's. I would do it for sure!

Our trips never seem to coincide with TiW events, but this one (and the one in the design center) appeal to us quite a bit.

I am hopeful they continue these once we are "locals"!!
