If one person in your party upgrades to an Ap can you get the TIW card? Can you upgrade when you get to the resort and then buy the card or do you need to do it before you arrive? Is it good at all restauraunts and is it good on alcohol? It seems like a better deal than DXDP.

Yes - if the one person is 21 or over (you can't do it on a child's AP).

It is not good at all WDW restaurants. It is accepted at most (not all) TS restaurants on Disney property, and most lounges, but only nine counter service restaurants. There are also 8 blackout days a year, mostly major holidays. The discount is on your entire bill, including alcohol. The automatic tip on all TIW transactions (except CS) is 18%.

You cannot upgrade to an AP or buy a TIW membership at a resort - the resort front desks sell neither of these. You can do both at Guest Services at any park or Downtown Disney.

You can upgrade your tickets when you get to the park at the Guest Services window and can also buy the TIW card there too. Yes, alcohol is included in the discount. Use the link below and scroll down to see the list of restaurants that accept the card. It also lists other info about the TIW card that might be helpful. :thumbsup2

We have found that the TIW card works better for us as annual passholders than getting a meal plan. I believe we were also able to use it on Mother's Day (the only holiday we spend in WDW typically), depending on the restaurant.

Mother's Day is a listed blackout day, so you shouldn't anticipate being able to use it everywhere on that day. I understand some of the restaurants may not observe the blackout days but one shouldn't expect that.

Thank you I will definetely do this. I should have enough disney visa points to pay for the upgrade. This should save us a ton of money since we like to eat at signatures restaurants and usally order a bottle of wine. Not to mention I will be able to eat the way I want to eat.:thumbsup2

I have a question, I have had an Ap & TIW card in the past. I let our AP's expire, because our next trip was not scheduled until 5 months after they expired. Our TIW card expired as well. I am going down on 10/1 and I am going to buy new AP's. Can I get a TIW card while I am down in Disney and get it immediately?

Yes, you can purchase both the AP and TIW card at Guest Relations at the same time.

You must have the AP before you purchase the TIW. You can purchase both the AP and the TIW at any Guest Services at any park or Downtown Disney.
