TIW Discount Across more than one table?

We will be traveling as a group of 12 (6 adults, 6 kids)...one adult already has a TIW card which is good for up to 10 diners so if we're all seated together I assume two of the kids' meals will be excluded from the discount? No big deal.

My concern is that most restaurants won't do ADRs for a party of 12...so we typically make separate ADRs (5 + 7) and hope when we arrive they can seat us together...sometimes they can, sometimes they can't. If we're at separate tables can the TIW be used across 2 tables? Would the TIW card holder need to pay both bills for this to work?

I am trying to decide if I should get my own TIW card, but I don't want to spend $75 unnecessarily? Anyone have any input? :confused3

I have done this, we had a group of 12 and were at two tables (next to each other) and we had no problem.

Also, the TiW Card holder (a) does not have to be the one to pay, and (b) Even though it is one check, you can use multiple cards for payment but be sure to be clear how much is to be charged to each card.

Apparently these are not consistent. I have seen posters who said it was required that the cardholder must be the one to pay for the meals, but that's never happened to me. I have, however, been refused on at least two attempts to use multiple credit cards on one bill.

Thanks for your reply!! So does that mean both tables must be combined in one check? If they can't find two tables close together and we end up with 2 different servers I fear that could be a problem. I'd say they cane seat us together or at 2 tables very close together 90% of the time so maybe I guess we'll just hope for the best. ;)

All the discounted meals must be on one check (the same check as the cardholder).

This past Sept they refused to allow multiple cards for payment at both Yachtsman and Via Napoli.:confused3 They said it didn't have to be the card holder, but they could only use one card for payment.:confused3

Is it worth $75 just so I have my own card for when we do not eat as a group AND to avoid the hassle of "settling up" after the fact. The cost of our "non-group meals" alone does not justify it - I guess that depends on how much "avoidance of settling-up" is worth to me! Will need to give this some more thought.

All 12 of us are family - we travel together often and are all easy-going so paying as a group is definitely doable...just the necessary accounting afterwards will annoy me!! And guess who the accountant in the group is???

You don't need one if all you are going to use it for is cover the meals of two children. You did say one adult already has a TIW card. If you are not going to use it for yourself on other trips, don't get one; you've already said you don't think it's worth it to have one just for you.

That has not been my experience. We were not allowed to have more than one person/card to pay.
