TIW and Spirit of Aloha Luau??

Hi. I was thinking of buying TIW when we buy our annual passes next july. We were thinking of doing the Luau at the poly during this trip which i believe you can use the card for the 8pm show. My question is: how do we get our discount if we reserve in January (180 days out) but don't buy the card until we arrive for our trip. I believe we have to pay for the luau when we make our reservation?? TIA
