Hi! We're planning a trip next summer for a party of 8. There are 6 adults and 2 kids (ages 4 and 2 at time of trip). We'll be there for 9 park days and we're staying off site at a rental house. We do plan on park hopping.
I'm debating whether to upgrade one of the Park Hoppers to an AP and then get the TIW card. We do plan on a fair number of character meals, and probably at least 1 nice meal for DH and I. I've never even considered an AP before, and don't know much about TIW, so I wanted to make sure my possible plan makes sense.
I have 2 options. I could get either DH or I an AP or I could get my 4 year old an AP. The breakdowns are as follows:
Kids 9 Day PH: $319
9 days parking: $126
Total: $445
Kids AP: $510
TIW: $75
Total: $585
= Pay $140 more for 20% off all table service for all 8 of us
= must spend $700 on table service food and beverage to break even...right?
Adult 9 Day PH:$338
9 Days Parking:$126
Total:$464
Adult AP:$553
TIW: $75
Total: $628
= Pay $164 more for 20% off all table service for all 8 of us
= must spend $820 on table service food and beverage to break even...right?
Is this all correct? If so, it seems like a no brainer. 8 of us will spend $700 in 2 meals no problem.
Now, deciding between the child or the adult is a bit trickier, I think. If I do it for my DD(4), then she needs to be with us in order to use the TIW card, correct? So it wouldn't work if DH and I went out for a nice dinner and bottle of wine?
But, DH and I each have 2 days left over on an old no-expire pass, so if I get one for DD, it makes an short trip in the spring almost free. Hmmmm.
Any thoughts on what you would do?
Also, does anyone have an link that explains exactly which restaurants take TIW? I can't find it anywhere on the Disney site.
Thanks!
Kristen
