Titanic Exhibit?

Hi....here is paste from a reply I did last year....Ted

Hi...we got a good deal at www.ibidusa.com to go. we would not have done it if we paid reg price. It was fun. You are taken on the "cruise" by a "employee" of the Steamship line. You are given a ticket on intering the show and there is a name on it...that is who you are during the doomed voyage.

At the very end of the show, you can find out if you lived or died!

First of all there are NO real relics from the boat. but rather large rooms made up to look like the deck, staircase, the engine room etc and your guide takes you through them...there are lots and lots of great pictures, articles, but NO real artifacts.

We thought it was worth the discounted price. If you are a Titanic fan, I am sure you will find it interesting...

Good Luck..Ted

We did Titanic a few weeks ago after our Disney Cruise. If you enjoy the history of it all, or really liked the movie I think you will find it quite interesting. It was very well done by the "cast members". You can also get discount tickets at http://www.ticketmania.com . They will ship them to you for free. It took us a couple of hours to go through, but you are welcome to stay as long as you like and linger back through the exhibits after the "guide" portion of the tour is over.

The name on my ticket was Thomas Andrews, which I knew from the movie was the shipbuilder and we all know what happened to him! I didn't have to wait till the end to find out.

I too have done this tour and found it very interesting.....and sad of course. But tasteful and well put together. I recommend it.

My 7-year-old daughter had been begging me to take her here. She hasn't seen the movie, but they've seen a documentary on the Titanic in school. It sure doesn't look like much from the outside, but I finally gave in last October. I was sure that she would be bored out of her mind, but our guide took great care to involve the children in the tour--they were the first to try to hold on to the "iceberg," they each got to descend the grand staircase, etc. She was mesmerized, and I thoroughly enjoyed it myself.

Our guide explained that only items from the "debris field" around the Titanic can be removed. I was a little disappointed not to see actual Titanic artifacts also, but then I was ashamed of myself when he explained this to us. They do have a lot of items from the Titanic's sister ship, however, so you get a vivid idea.

Anyway, my daughter and I both enjoyed the tour. And again, it was the tour guide who really made it so informative and entertaining. (Of course, if your guide was having a bad day, it could be a completely different experience!) I wouldn't say it's for everyone, but if you enjoy history or love the movie, I think it's worth your time!

Glad to hear so many people liked it....DH and I are planning on doing it when we go in May!

How long would I need for the tour? Thing is, the day we go is the day we're driving down to Miami Beach and we'd like to get there around 4p. So I figured going for 10a and staying for 2 hours was enough? Maybe less?
