Tires at Sam's Club?

Big budget buster...I realized today that the tires on my SUV are just about shot, so I need to replace them before the snow flies. It's a big tire and an odd-ball size, so it will probably be a special order regardless of where I buy them.

DH wants to take it to our local tire shop, but I remembered that Sam's Club has tires too. Other than a hopefully lower price, do they offer anything special, such as free rotation, balancing, etc?

We always buy our tires at Sam's. They are cheaper, plus they often have rebates (like buy 4 Michelin tires, save $75), and the balancing/mounting/etc is also cheaper. And yes, if you buy your tires there, you get free rotation.

My dad is a serious car-nut. He knows more about cars and how they work than anyone you'll ever meet. He buys all his tires at Sam's and has for years. He says the best way to get an accurate price comparison is to call the places you want to compare and ask, "How much for a set of 4 tires in XX brand, XX size, out the door?" A lot of tire shops add extra fees for the mounting and balancing and air and stems and whatnot. Make them give you the TOTAL price. And then call Sam's. Every time I've done this, Sam's is always cheapest.

If you buy the added package (I think $15 per tire) you get lifetime balance, rotation, flat repair, etc. That's good at any Sam's Club nationwide, just keep your paperwork in your car. The last time I was in there they had a sign by the register that if you bought 4 of a certain brand of tires they'd throw in that package for free. Often there are rebates/specials on other tires as well. We've gotten our last few sets of tires at Sams and I've been very happy. I research first on tirerack.com and figure out which brand I want based on what they carry. If you go to Sams Club online you can find your tire size and see all they have for your vehicle. Sometimes they have them in stock, sometimes you have to order them and have them shipped to the store. It doesn't take very long. Good luck!!

DH bought Michelin tires there about a year ago and was happy with their service. He's pretty picky, so it must have been A OK

If you buy at Sam's, you can also have the free rotation done at Walmart. Not sure about the repair, though. I the package also includes roadside assistance (tire issue only).

Would never buy tires at Sam's Club again...EVER...Dry rot...What a waste of money. I think the tires lasted 6 months, if that.

I bought my tires from Sam's Club about a year ago and haven't had any issues.

I recall the paperwork included free tire rotation for life (I didn't pay extra for that, but maybe because I have a small car).

I've been pleased with the purchase and the tires are in great shape despite the lack of a rotation and easily 30K miles since there installation.

We've bought tires there for cars,the minivan, as well as our conversion van~so lots of tire sizes--everything has held up well. No issues. Been buying from there for years. Nice to buy when they are offering a special deal, but we've bought them even when they aren't.
