Tired of crashing Please fix this VMK

Seems since the upgrades I crash every 3 or 4 games in mansion. Wonder if when they took away the ability to stay on line with friends list up that this is the new result. I have not crashed so much. I keep getting access error.
I know this has nothing to do with my cookies, because I clean them often and I am no where near maximum in my ram.

not to nit pick here, but you say you are "no where near maximum in my ram." - do you even know what that means? Because I can say for certain, VMK maxes out your ram every time you load it, whether you have 256meg of ram or 4 gig. It is what it does. I suggest you look up some sites on general PC troubleshooting and clean your temp and temp internet files, clean up your startup programs and other general little items before blaming VMK.

Haha, I hear ya. HowWeird and I finally got a DIS game of mansion going when we finally signed on at night. It was the two of us against gshawen and PurpleDuck and then BAM ... haha, suddenly it was just me left in the 2nd round ... got a little lonely there!

Ok I do have a program that does optimize my ram. And it says I am only at 50%. So what else could be causing this. I also notice that you are very knowledgeable about computers. Since it is never VMK fault, what programs do you suggest we use. And what do you think is causing all the crashing.

I have a brand new computer. I also have Cleanup and uniblue speedup my pc which shows how much ram I am using. I optimize it as soon as I get on VMK. Why is it never VMK fault?

Sorry to hear you're having VMK issues, Belle.

I will say though that since the updates, I've only crashed maybe 2x in many, many Mansion games. And I have an absolutely horrible computer that gives me all kinds of grief. So, it might be something to do with your PC or maybe your internet connection, although I obviously can't say for sure. Hope it gets better soon!

It could be my internet connect. But what is causing the access error. Any one know what that means? Ok I read some past posts. I close norton when I play VMK. But I do have Vista on this machine could that be the cause? Please do not nit pic on people who do not have as much knowledge of computers as you do. Thanks

I'm no IT gal, but I do know sometimes when VMK has updated and I log in for the first time after the updates, something clearly goes wonky when my computer or internet is reading/accepting the coding or whatever it is it does. One time that happened, I couldn't play Jungle Cruise at all until VMK was updated again (just got a black screen), and the other time I crashed every time I played Pirates. In both cases, I just had to wait it out for about a month or so until something else was updated and the game had to reload on my computer. So maybe something like that is the issue?

Maybe it is Vista I just got this computer so I have no idea. I do not have this problem unless I play ghosts. Thanks for your support.

Hey Belle We also have had this same problem ..this past wek in playing ghost every time we played we got this "access violation" to. My DH finally gave up on it...also we were playing it with my son and he said he got it too. So not sure what the problem is either. Now today when I played it for the quest I didn't get it but did crash twice of three times?

Well, since the last update I have more often than not, crashed at the end of level 1 in fireworks. I know for a fact it's not just me, so it must be VMK.

VMK is totally eating more resources than ever because I not only crash playing mansion, but my entire pc bogs now. Never had that problem a year ago. I don't have the access problem you're describing, but I would definitely blame vmk, not your pc.

you didnt say you were using Vista Belle - Mansion absolutely stinks on Vista - use VMK Pal and you will not have that problem. I also suggest getting rid of any program which "optimizes" anything. Your PC will run best when "naked".

But thats the extent of the troubleshooting help I am going to give any longer on this board.

and for the record, I did not say it was "never VMKs fault" but if 90% of the people have no issues, then is it still VMKs fault? Thats like blaming the road because your car has a bad muffler.

I was advised to upgrade my video card, which should happen this week - I will let you know if it helps. I can do ghosts if there are 6 or less players total but fireworks is very iffy - have to close out, clear history, delete off line content and log on again and even then I sometimes crash after level one. I have tried turning off sound, etc - it just seems to be using more resources.

Yes, VMK does use more resources than it did a year ago, but then again, there is 3 times as much stuff in VMK than there was a year ago. Her PC is to blame, trust me on that one. My main PC is 5 years old and I rarely, if ever have a problem running VMK.

I have the same issue Belle, and it is only since the new build in VMK.

I get the access error every 3 or 4 mansion games, if I am playing more than 1 on 1 (as RachelNinja said, I indeed crashed when there were 4 of us).

I further crash (but not the access message) in fireworks during either stage 1 or 2.

I sincerely doubt it is my computer as it has only occurred since the new build, and I have a "geek" who helped try to remedy it as if it were my PC. (I do not have VISTA)

Again, I have to say it.

If it is VMK then why do I run perfectly fine on my 5 year old computer? VMK actually runs BETTER for me since the updates.

LAST TROUBLESHOOTING TIP FROM ME:

Get rid of Norton. I know both of you probably have it. Avast is free, better than Norton/MacAfee and uses about 1 million percent less resources than they do.

Ok I will try turning off everything. Now is there a place I can go to find out what I really need on this computer. I have a lot of toshiba stuff I have no clue if it is neccessary.
