Dont know why I didnt think of this before... :confused3 lol! Didnt know wether to put this on the tips for families board, here or what, so here ya go!

Many people have talked about adding koolaid to their kids bottles of water etc...
but here is my idea.
Many people get tired of water, but dont really want pop when it is hot outside, or maybe they dont like water  ( ok, i know they are crazy, but some just dont like it), or they want to refill their water bottles but many cannot stand the taste of the water down there (myself included).

So, go to the grocery store and crystal light makes these little packets of crystal light that are not much bigger around than a pencil and about 3 inches long. They come with 10 in a box. (at our super walmart, they sell the walmart brand, for half the price, tastes the same!)
You pour it in your bottle and shake it up!

No calories for those who are diet conscious... :teeth: no sugar for those who know the kiddos will already be getting enough sugar for a month! :Pinkbounc :bounce:
These would so easily fit into a fanny pak, diaper bag, heck even your pocket!
Tons of flavors! My kids who used to go through koolaid by the gallon, absolutely love these!
There is one they really like in the am, i think it is called sunrise something or other, tastes just like tang!
Anyways, i have rambled on and on... just thought i would pass this on! Even though we wont be adding this to every bottle of water, cuz we do love water, it is nice for a change!
:drinking1:

I've used this too. The small one drink packets are so much more convenient that the larger ones. I think it really helps-the water in Orlando tastes so different than ours at home. Makes it much more palatable.

I took these on our Feb. trip, mainly the lemonade. It was a fmaily trip w/ my in-laws, bro-in-law, and cousin-in-law. I made the HUGE mistake of not taking enough. Everyone was all over me wanting more of them :)

My husband patted me on the back for bringing them and will load up before our next trip :)

I saw a commerical for the new packets of Crystal light, they're flat instead of being in those little containers. So much easier. They're called "Crystal Light on the Go."

Here's a pic of the new packets of Crystal Light:

It never occured to me to bring in those packets of Crystal light. What a great idea! :flower: Thanks!

I buy the Wal-Mart off-brand. It's cheaper and they taste the same ;)

You know if you don't like the taste of Orlando water (and I don't blame you!), there are Brita water bottles with built in filters. This way you can get free ice water from eateries, and filter out all that nasty stuff out of it. Then if you want, add the crystal light to it, and you have clean crystal light!

This is what we did in December, lemonade, ice tea and I love the rasberry.

We carried one britta and then everyone else had a water bottle on a bottle strap. I don't like the water in FL unless it is filtered and flavored!!

Thanks for the pic!!!
That is exactly what I am talking about! We never used crystal light before, cuz those little cups are not very convenient for putting in a fanny pak or whatever, but the little on the go ones are amazing!

Glad to hear that others have used them and had them work out well!

Before these packets came out, I took the regular size packets w/ me and sprinkled some in my water whenever I wanted a break from plain water. A small binder clip keeps the packet from spilling out. I will probably continue to do this because they are cheaper than the individual packets.

I do not like the taste of Crystal Light. I have purchased powdered Gatorade instead. Now I just have to find something smaller to store it in, so that I can carry it into the parks.

Where did you find the Britas?? I looked all over Walmart!

The Brita fill and go bottles are discontinued but you can sometimes find them in the plumbing department where the ones that attach to your sink are. If you find them buy as many replacement filters as you can. I'm thinking of buying a Brita pitcher and some plain sports bottles and filling them before we go into the parks. We may have to buy some water in the park but this may save a few pennies. Also check the grocery store, I saw some in the water aisle about a month ago.

For the kids, since I don't like to give them the crystal lite, I use a powder drink mix in a rubbermaid salt/pepper contaner. Just widen one of the slots a bit and it works perfect. If you want something smaller and more disposable I have used the snack size ziplocs as well.

While that is a great idea and I would love to buy them, ther are no longer available on stores...Wal-Mart has clearanced then out and I have found them to be over priced on other web-sites....although I am hoping that with warmer weather on the way that they will be coming out with new ones for summer

OK, so I saw this post, and thought what a great idea. Then I did some searching on the internet, and came up with this place... Seemed like good prices no???

interesting website...
but here is my opinion...
the on the go boxes of CL on that website were 10.95 for a box of 30, plus 5.95 shipping...
at WM, the CL on the go come in a box of 10 for 3.96
so it doesnt seem like a good deal... yeah, you would need to buy 3, which woudl be roughly 12.00 but no ship...
even better though, is at walmart, get the wm brand of on the go.... 10 pkgs for 1.96!!!!!
the other pkgs on that website, only made 8 oz... might be difficult to find water bottles of that size...

I'm guessing tjmw2727's comment about not giving the kids crystal light is for the same reason as mine. I don't want my kids to be having the artificial sweeteners (aspartame). I'd rather they have sugar. :) But since we're all fine with drinking the FL water (must be the same as our Houston water) :), we don't need any of these. It does seem like a very neat idea though!

Yep - no diet stuff for my kiddos.
FWIW, Shaws here carries the crystal lite in the go packs. They were on the reward card last week but I can't remember the savings. They were flying off the shelves for a while so I imagine they will be hot again this spring and summer here in MA.

Go to your craft store, Michaels or Joanns or Hobby Lobby etc, and go to the beading or jewelry section. They sell boxes of @100 teeny tiny ziploc bags. They are for beads, supplies or finished pieces. They are perfect for holding your powdered drink in pre-measured amounts !

POP! I knew you were a northerner before I even looked at your state of origin. My grandparents in Iowa always call a soft drink "POP". :goodvibes

Down where the warmth is, most refer to all soft drinks as a "Coke"...no matter what the drink is. Also it ususally costs you two round quatas to get one :rotfl2: . Not sure what I am going to do with all those square quarters I have. :rotfl2:

Back to the subject: this is a great idea and we will take you all's advice and pick some of these drink/stick packets for some spice in our H20s. :smooth:
