Tips to peeling an orange

Ok - seems simple right. Well I am just looking for some tips to get all of the white membrane stuff off the orange when you peel it. It seems like I have heard some tips before like run the orange under warm water or something. I tried that but it didnt seem to do much. Anyone have any tips on the best way to peel an orange to get all of the peel off?

use a serrated edge knife to "shave" that off.

I guess a lot depends on the variety of orange - some are easy to peel, and some just don't want to cooperate.

One thing that I do that seems to help is to roll the orange around in my hands before I start peeling it. I guess massaging the orange separates the white from the juicy part, and so it is much easier to peel.

I've never heard about running warm water over the orange. Does that make any difference?

I also roll my oranges-it definitely helps.

Getting the peel and pith off is really more a matter of cooperation by the orange than skill on the part of the eater.

Give up the oranges and go buy a bag of "Cuties" clementines. I thought they were just runt oranges until my sister gave me some.

They peel in a second or two - so easy, and they are delicious. Perfect size for a child although I will eat 2-3 of them. Very sweet. The little sections are bite size so no dripping involved like when you take a bite off a big piece of orange.
