Posted on the family board but I thought I'd try here too.

DD's birthday is actually a few weeks before our trip but we plan on celebrating there as if it's her birthday. We haven't been since 2008 so any ideas are welcome: things to purchase, things to book, etc. We are staying offsite so I can't ask the hotel.

You can always go to Guest Relations in the first park you visit and ask for a Birthday button. They'll write her name on it and she can wear it every day of your trip. She will probably get a lot of "happy birthday"s but may get a special cupcake if you are planning on having dinner at any of the Disney restaurants. You could order a specialty cake from one of the Disney bakeries (check out the Restaurants board for all the information) and have it delivered to your restaurant. If she still likes princesses, you could have her made up at Bibbitty Bobbitty Boutique at either Magic Kingdom or DownTown Disney, or have a pirate makeover at Pirates League at Magic Kingdom. I would probably plan to book one special meal - maybe a character meal if she'd like that, or a more grown-up place if she'd prefer. Fun choices would be Crystal Palace (Pooh characters), Chef Mickey's (Fab 5), 50's Prime Time Cafe (no characters, but fun), Whispering Canyon Cafe (no characters, but fun). Just depends on what would make the trip special for her. Have fun!

For my daughter's 10th birthday I booked the Royal Highness Package at the Castle when we had dinner. It cost about $112 but it was priceless for the reaction it got from her. They brought her out a full size tiara on a pillow, had her favorite character cake and a princess balloon:)

Definitnely get the birthday pin, it is really fun to have so many people wish her Happy Bday, sometimes the singing groups will even sing to her (dont count on it but it is pure magic when it does). My DD even had tons of people in the AK parade yell Happy Birthday because we were in a spot with just a few people sitting.

We also did the dessert party @Tomorrowland Terrace. Pricey for dessert but so cool to watch the fireworks right from there facing the castle. We did that instead of doing a big dinner somewhere.

Have fun, we were there in April for my DD10th BDay and it was great!

Last February we visited WDW for DD's 10th birthday and she wore a Disney shirt that said Katie is now in Double Digits! A fellow disser made it for us :)
