Last time we went, in October, we were stuck in a crush on Main Street after the parade at 7 and stood on Main Street for over on hour without moving. We weren't even trying to watch the parade, just get into the park. I need to avoid this happening again for many reasons.

How do you avoid the craziness around events like F!, parades, WOC, etc. Can someone provide insight, besides telling me to avoid the park at those times, like alternate places to go if we don't want to view those events. Hopes this makes sense!!

If you get yourself into the stores on the left side going towards the castle (starting with the emporium) they are almost all connected so you can get almost all the way up main street with little time spent on the sidewalks. This works well during parades and after fireworks to try and get to the Adventureland/Frontierland side. As far as F! go to the train station in New Orleans Square afterwards or if you don't want to see it but get into the area take the train into the land. Leaving WOC if you are going to the parking structure go towards GRR and exit through GCH it's a faster walk to the trams.

A good dodge around Main Street is the Monorail, depending on where you start out and where you want to go. If you're anywhere near Tomorrowland, just hop on the monorail and you'll be zipped over to Downtown Disney, which works great if you're staying at the GCH or DLH, or even parked in the Downtown Disney parking.

I'd also definitely second the suggestion to cut through the stores along Main Street if you're on the other side of the park. We've snuck through that way and it's much easier.

As far as avoiding the crowds for F! or other parades, it's a HUGE help to know when they're happening and what the routes will be. We don't keep to much of a schedule in the park, but we do keep track of things like that, so we can say, "Fantasmic starts in two hours. Let's go over and do Haunted Mansion now, so we can be out of there before it gets really crazy."

Another suggestion is to ride the train.

We usually take the 'back routes', ie go from Adventureland to Futureland via Fantasyland/Small World/Nemo. Then if we want to leave the park we take the monorail. :thumbsup2

Alternately, if we're headed the other direction, we do the opposite route, then as PPs have suggested take the train out if you want to leave the park.

Another suggestion is to ride the train.

Also note that this only works if you don't have an ECV of wheelchair in your group. The Main Street station is not HA accessible; the other stations are, but you cannot get to/from the park entrance using the train if you use one of these mobility devices.

The monorail is HA, but puts you way out in DTD.
