Tips, tips who gets tips?

The big week is fast aproching and we would like to set aside the tips before we go. Can anyone help out with some idea of who gets how much? We would also be open for ideas to leave something other than $$$ if it is appropriate. Sailing on the 3 day Wonder in Nov. Thanks

Help! I'm really confused about tipping!
We'll make it easy. Of course, you should never feel that a reward is automatically expected from you. But it is customary to give gratuities in recognition of service, which you will most likely be treated to in abundance aboard the ship. As a guideline, may we suggest the following:

Per Guest per cruise 3-Night
Dining Room Server 11.00
Dining Room Asst. Server 8.00
Dining Room Head Server 2.75
Stateroom Host/Hostess 10.75
Dining Manager Your Discretion
Room Service Your Discretion

For your convenience, a 15% gratuity is automatically added to bar, beverage, wine, and deck service tabs. All gratuities can be charged to your room charge.
At the Walt Disney World® Resort, 15% is the customary gratuity at restaurants and bars.

I believe someplace in your cruise docs is the suggested tip amount for the head server, server, assistant server, and room steward. Those are the ones you really MUST tip at least the suggested amount (unless your service is so bad that I would hope you would complain while onboard).

Others you really need to tip:

Room service deliveries (it seems that $2 per person per order is the going rule of thumb).

Spa therapists (15-20% is standard)

Porters when you get of the ship ($1-2 per bag)

Those you might want to tip:

Child care/club staff/counselors
Dining Room Manager
Concierge Staff (they may or may not accept it)
Bartenders (there is already a gratuity included on the bill, but you are welcome to add more.)

I'm taking a stack of singles for room service, and have picked up some prepaid phone cards and small boxes of Godiva chocolates for giving to those who go above and beyond, in addition to tipping of course.

If we are getting drinks from room service, I usually tip $1 per person per drink. If we are getting food, I normally tip at least $2 per person...

A popular gift for those who can't/won't accept cash is prepaid phone cards, since most of the crew is far from home. I know of several people who have given these to the CM's in the kid's clubs and they were very greatful.

The phone card idea is a great tip. Especially for the kids' program counselors. Mine will be Common Grounds age on our next cruise and I suspect those counselors need a special thank you even more than the ones working with the younger kids!

How many CMs in the club should you tip? The phone cards sound like a great idea--just want to know how many to bring.

As the mother of a DS 16, I have to say "you're not kidding".

At least you know (really hope!) that they are 100% potty trained at that age, LOL!

The 15% that's added to alcoholic beverages ordered in restaurants is divided between your server, assistant server & head server. So they're getting this over & above what you give them at the end of the cruise.

I think the phone cards are a great idea...I read somewhere that you need to make sure you get the "international" ones, being that many are out of the US...can someone fill me in on what type to buy...I see them all the time at Sams, but don't know which I should buy?? Thanks!
