TIPS: Star Wars Weekends 2011

OMG!!! my son is so excited thanks for the info. I also thought the logo would be something with the star tours ride. Wonder if they will have some star wars vinylmations?????

We will be there one week too early for SW Weekends, and cannot change our travel dates. Needless to say I am not telling my preschooler that we are missing it. I have however made him a shirt to wear to DHS that has Yoda on it and says, "Off My Parent's timing is." I am hoping we get a chuckle out of a cast member or two.

Summer's Mickey Monitor is out (AP magazine) and has some information about Star Tours and SWW. All of it has already been leaked but here's the official announcement for the merchandise:
Don’t miss out on merchandise designed
exclusively for Passholders! It’s available
throughout all of Star Wars Weekends.
(Or at least whil e supplies last.)
Just head out to the Jabba’s Hutt tent
located behind Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster®
Starring Aerosmith. The tent will be open
every Friday, Saturday and Sunday
during Star Wars Weekends.
here's the link to the complete MM: http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m...eng/nontheme/passholder/MMSummer2011Final.pdf
So now we knoe for sure that the SWW merch. will be behind RnRC. I hope the tent will be A/C :goodvibes

Thank you so much for posting this :worship: ... we're AP holders but don't get the Mickey Monitor mailed to us as we're in Canada -and truthfully I always forget that it's available online. At least now we won't be wandering around aimlessly looking for Jabba's Hutt and getting strange looks as we mutter to ourselves :rotfl:

:rotfl::lmao: Love it!

I'm confused about the merchandise tent. How do you get behind RnR? I know we're going to need to buy some stuff!

They released the Star Wars Vinylmations set in January and I believe they are sold out. However, I've also heard rumors about a re-release possibly in June. I have seen them for sale on eBay - people are selling them by the tray as well as selling single characters.

I was thinking the same thing :rolleyes1 ... I guess we'll just find out when we get there :confused3

They have gates right next to the FP machines at RnRC, that area is usually a parking lot but they use it for special events, such as ESPN The Weekend. So they open those gates and they are placing a big A/C tent with all merchandise.

Does anyone know if there will be any new characters to see or get autographs from? Or any characters that won't be there this year? (Not talking about celebrities/hosts).

Last year they introduced Mickey's version of R2D2- R2MK, and Ventress, and I hadn't expected C3PO to show up at the time.

I finally found a photo of my DSis from 2008's Star Wars Weekend - she said to add the tip that it was VERY HOT.

Awesome ... :thumbsup2

I've got a quick question. I know the busses usually start running an hour before the parks open. I'm going the first weekend of SWW, but not planning on taking part in any of the SWW stuff.

I do however have to be to Studios by 9:30am the friday & saturday (I'm a seasonal cm & had the trip planned to go work for the weekend before dates were released.) Right now, I'm planning on being to the bus stop at Pop Century by 7am those days in case there is a really long for the bus those days (I'm guessing there will be.) I don't want to risk being late for work simply because of a crowd at the bus stop.

My question is: since people are talking about getting to the park before 7am, do the busses run that early or do the people that get there early drive themselves?

I figured this would be the best place to put this question. Thanks for the help in advance!

The parks open at 8:00 on the first weekend so buses should start running between 6:30-7:00. We will be at POP during this section of our stay.

This is a great thread! Didn't see it posted on here, but I started a thread with the link to make a Star Tours Passport. Might be fun to print out and use for Autographs to; sorry if it is duplicate information!

Printable Star Tours Passport :thumbsup2

First I wanted to comment thanks for the great thread!

This will be our first Star Wars Weekends, and we will be there from May 19 to May 24th, with our main goal being Star Wars weekends. We have no interest in the celebrities, I have been to enough sci-fi cons that I have a pile of autographs. I am really interested in the Star Tours rides, characters, parade and Hyperspace Hoopa.

With that being said, I am having a hard time deciding whether it is better to avoid Friday (May 20th) or Saturday (May 21st), we may still stop by but I figure we would do either friday or saturday and then sunday too. I figured Friday would be more busy as it is the opening day for the new Star Tours, but its also a friday so may there would be less locals? Does anyone with experience with Star Wars Weekends who could share their opinion? Thanks!

Jennifer

I am trying to decide whether to plan our next trip for SWW 2012. We usually go during Feb to avoid the heat & crowds, but my boys would love SWW. Do I really want to take the plunge? I'd be willing to do it if we aren't dealing w/crowds the whole week, but just the day we go to SWW. My DS wouldn't even do JTA, but he would like seeing the characters & parade. We would be there for the 2nd & 3rd weekends.
