TIPS: Star Wars Weekends 2011

Update on Stars Tours The Adventure Continues: Today was the last day of Darth Vader's meet and greet. Refurb walls are now on portions of the Ewok Village. Still people can sign for for JTA by the FP machines at ST.

Just got back from our March WDW blowout this week & got caught up on this thread:). Congrats Yullin!

Any buzz/info on whether or not they are doing the Indy/Star Wars mash-up show they did for the Last Trip to Endor celebration at Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular? I hear it was fabulous & people have been clamoring for it to come back during SWW 2011.

TIA!

No word yet on Indiana Jones and the Jedi Temple of Doom...I really hope they incorporate this because it was awesome!!

So is anyone making autograph books for the Star Wars Weekend? I am trying to compile a list of characters that sign autographs! Can anyone help me?

Alright, the Jedi Training Academy is actually pertinent to me this year. My son, who is five, is all excited about fighting Darth Vader. Darth Vader is his favorite Star Wars character.

I have been reading responses that say, go sign up and wait for your time.
-Is that basically all that is done?
-How many shows are there a day?
-If you sign up your child, that child will be brought up on stage?
-When I read "go straight to sign up" is it similar to what happens with TSM and the Fast Pass line?
- Any details about this whole thing would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to have all my ducks in the row for this since we won't be doing anything celebrity meet and greets so this, the opening of the ride and the parade will be the extent of our Star Wars fun.

I am making some too! :cool1: In post #92, page 7 of this thread I posted some links on SWW autograph books. Here is a link for quick reference:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2652926&page=7

In the link to the SWW autograph cover in the Simple Guide to Making Autograph Books thread, go to the first page, scroll down the first post to STAR WARS WEEKEND autograph books & there are links to 3 different DISigners: Dom13, Donatalie, and Chaoscent. They each have some autograph pages already designed. Dom13's autograph pages are pretty complete & the style of pages is my personal fav.

I'm having a lot of fun with these DISigns, they are printing out great & look AWESOME!:woohoo: I hope that helps & if you have more questions, PLMK!

HTH,

In past years the sign up for JTA during SWW has been at the info table in front of Sound Dangerous...if you want to sign up your child be at the turnstiles around 8:15 so as soon as they do rope drop go directly to the sign up table. In years past the entire JTA shows for the whole day had filled up in 15 minutes, so it's crucial that you be there as early as possible.
So you sign him up, they will give you a paper with your return time, come back for the show and they will take care of him (give him a Jedi robe) and show him where to stand. If you're not familiar with the show you can see this link and it will give you an idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1I0J0QLzAM for current JTA showtimes see this:

Ohhh...this sounds fun. What is it? Thanks in advance!

If we are not visiting any celebs or any shows other than Hyperspace is it possible for our kids to see most or all of the characters if we rotate in lines my husband and I or is this allowed? I mean while he waits to see one character with thekids in one line I stnad in the other so they can join me when they are done

IMHO, it would be hard to see all the star wars characters in one day. Some lines have rotating characters in them, so you have to time them right. Meaning if you get in line for Goofy, then he may switch with Donald, then Donald might switch with Minnie by the time you get to the front. Plus it is hot, and that can take some wind out of your sails. Vader has a long line, the disney characters swap every few minutes, the Fetts swap, the clones swap, the jedi swap, etc. Some of the characters are randomly out as roamers, so hard to predict. For Chewie, basically the best bet is to get in line for him before he comes out for the next turn, so in the afternoon when the ewoks are rotating with him it is hard to gauge. There is a lot of parent swapping at star wars weekends character lines, though, because people tend not to be too uptight and understand that when you get in line for commander cody and it is captain rex when you get up there that sometimes it takes a switch to work. Sometimes people switch BACKWARDS which is a concept that would probably trip some out hard. You get what you get, you don't get to pick. Most people are really cool about switching order or whatever, they realize it is for the kids. There's been bad stories of adults pushing kids out of the way, cutting between families and that sort of thing, but that hasn't ever been our experience, but realize that it is hot, crowded, there can be drinking at studios, and that sort of thing. In our experience, most people take it casually, but there are some hard core. Some lines are more rigid - like Vader, he is basically there all day in a cue with rails, so parent swapping isn't a good option here. The line to the droids/luke/leia is another that can get long and has ques. You'll get a feel for it. It is no big deal to swap at the clones, people would get mad at Vader or Chewie. You'll figure that out.

But no, I don't think you are going to see EVERY character in a day. But you'll see enough that you won't care. You'll see a lot. But if you are only going one weekend don't bring a checklist and try to get every single one. If you want to see any character in particular then make sure to arrange your day to see that character.

FWIW, I've also heard the Ray Park rumor, and a vague rumor about Peter Mayhew also (that was intertwined with the season finale of clone wars).

Please forgive me because I'm sure all of this has been answered but I am trying to help some friends out with information.

They will not be arriving to Disney until the last day of the Star Wars weekend. Their boys would love to be a part of it all but they are not sure about the parades, any other events. I know they should try to get to the park as soon as they can but is it going to be worth it? Will the boys get to do anything? Maybe at least see the parade? Thanks so much . Any information would be greatly appreciated!

At what time are they arriving? The parade is usually around 11:40am. There are character meet and greets thruout the park until 6pm. Depending on the ages they might find the Behind the Force show interesting (It talks about voice over acting/making of the Clone Wars animated series). Hyperspace Hoopla has been around 7pm in years past.

I think they are getting there early so I will tell them that the parade should be around that time. Is there any extra cost to the Behind the Force show? The oldest is 9 years old. Both boys love Star Wars so I bet they would love that. I'll pass on this information. Thank you very much!

There is no extra cost for any of the SWW activities

Hi all!

I have been following & lurking along here for awhile (months...lol) and figured I better say hi!

I'm a regular at WDW and DVC member, but this is my first SWW trip. I've been dying to go for so long, but it never worked out until now! I'm staying at the Boardwalk for a week starting 5/18....soo excited!! All my ADRs are made and now I'm just waiting for the specifics to be released so I can do my planning!

I had seen a few people ask about tattoine traders and thought I'd pass this along:
http://www.startours2live.com/news, they're updating pretty frequently as news comes in re: star tours 2. They recently posted that tattoine traders is closed for 2 weeks as well as info on the opening ceremony for the attraction.

Besides that....

Is anyone working on anything crafty for SWW besides autograph books? For other trips I've done the mickey tie dye shirts and some shirts that I did applique on - one is a mickey head with the mad hatters hat & hair - which were fun. This time I'm thinking of making my own SW mouse ears.

Thanks for the link!

I'm using some of Dom's name fills for shirts. I'd love to get the HerUniverse shirt with Ashoka for my DD but seeing as how she's only 3 I didn't think it'll fit her. Ashoka is her fav and that design is just so adorable! I could get it for me, but not sure I want to be wearing a dark brown shirt in June.
