Hi all!

We are staying at wdw but my hubby and my dad are hitting up US/IOA tomorrow. We have never been, and they only have one day. Can you recommend a good touring strategy? Should they buy front of the line passes?i assume they should get there early?

Get there to expect to get through the gates 15 minutes early. Head straight to Forbidden Journey and then do Dragon Challenge. Head to Jurassic Park and do the ride and continue moving through the park ending at The Hulk.

Head over to Universal and go straight to Mummy and work your way through the park ending with Twister (if desired).

They probably won't need an express pass. I certainly would not purchase it in advance.

Don't buy the passes until you see the parks and decide if they are neccessary.Where they start and what kind of touring plan, depends on what the interests are.You can see the highlights of the 2 parks, but not both full parks in one day

since they have never been to the darkside before, pull up the layout of the parks here:
www.universalorlando.com

they can get an idea of where the main rides are located in both parks.
pick up the guide map when entering the park for basic info.

Should be very slow tomorrow, no express passes necessary but I agree that to see all the highlights its a good idea to check out the maps and make a plan suited to their interests.
