In November we are going to Disney with out new little one, well he's not so little and will be 7 months on the trip.

We are flying out and staying at BWV. How do you bring everything a little one needs on the plane? Do people ship things ahead like formula, diapers... buy in Orlando.. once you arrive?

Right now we tend to rock him to sleep sometimes. umm is there a place to rent a glider or rocker, cause that worries me.

What about car rental, which leads to the car seat. Then the stroller. How does that work with the airplane? Do a lot of parents split up if they want a car rental to avoid the car seats? and one does the grocery shopping, or store stops, and then meet back at the resort later?

If someone has a packing list they use for their babies, please pass it along.

TIA

we first took our DGS when he was 6 months old. We did ship a lot down via fedex - diapers, formula, wipes, etc. We rented a few things from A Baby's Best Friend I believe is the name, and were quite pleased. We rented from them a few more times till he outgrew the need for things. They have a full range of items that can be found on their web site. We used ME so didn't have to hassle with a car seat. You can have groceries delivered right to your resort, We Go Shop is one service that does this. As for the stroller, the airline should let you keep it till you are ready to board; they take it as you step onto the plane, and will have it for you when you step off the plane. It was very easy, no problems at all. Don't stress so much, it will be fun and so worth it!!:thumbsup2

Don't stress...biggest advice I can give! Def order formula (get the ready to feed kind-much easier on vacation), diapers, wipes, baby shampoo (I always forgot to pack this!) etc from a service and have that at the resort when you get there.....think about everything you need on a daily basis, start jotting things down, even baby tylenol in case of a fever in the middle of the night, have whatever you can delivered to your resort.

We have flown with our twins since 14 months (and one had a feeding tube...so lots of stuff to take!). Unless you are planning to take taxis or rent a car, a car seat is not necessary(you really don;t need to have your own car at WDW--you're on vacation!). But, maybe it would help your baby sleep? that's the only reason I can think of to take it. If you do need it, just put it in a travel bag and check it....we never had a problem. However, trust me, less is best when travelling with babies! You will need your stroller, of course, and as the PP noted, the airline will let you keep it right until you board.

Good luck...if I think of anything else, I will add to this!

I believe that Mousesavers has a packing list that includes items that little ones would need. Also, each park has wonderful baby centers with rocking chairs, although this would not provide a rocking chair at the resort, it is a great place for a mid-day break with a baby.

I would recommend getting your baby his or her own seat on the plane and then using the car seat on the plane. Then it is available for you in the rental car. I would use amazon or diapers dot com for diapers formula and any food you may need. You should have a pnp in the room but we requested a crib and they delivered it and sheets to our room. It wasn't quite full size but more comfy for dd. You can rent a chair from an outside company a babies best friend. They also gave toys if you think you will need it.

Thanks for the tips, I forgot about the baby shampoo and tylenol. I'm torn about the car seat and the plane seat. He tolerates the car seat, but when he is upset, he wants held. I guess I'm not familiar with all the airline regulations, but during take off and landing if he is freaking out for some reason, sitting in the car seat is not going to calm him down. Even if we are sitting right next to him or trying to feed him.

We had a recent indecent where we were driving home, he didn't want to eat, he screamed the whole 30 min drive, and as soon as we got home, he was quiet once I picked him up. It was a long drive home, so, that is my fear about the car seat on the plane. I know its safer, but he doesn't know that and I don't want him screaming and the flight attendents telling me I have to leave him in the car seat.

keep the tips coming.

At 7 months we went to WDW. Stayed at the Poly, rented a car.

--Checked "the bucket" car seat through with luggage. You do not pay to check any baby items--even strollers. At that time we gate checked the stroller. DD was a lap baby. This was the last time she was a lap baby--too wiggly.

--Your kid might cry. As awful as that is, it happens. If you use pacifiers, that helps. Not much advice for that age, unfortunately. We tried to fly at nap or bed time. That didn't help either. DD just doesn't really sleep on planes.

--I used to take enough food/diapers/formula for about a full day. We then hit a Target and bought a package of diapers, ready-made formula and baby food. I would take disposable bottles and just wash the tops in the evening. Didn't know about delivery services at that point.

--I wish I had started DD on more solid food (crackers and stuff) by then because she would have been more agreeable at sit-down dinners.

--A whole, big glider chair won't really fit in the villa. However, those kids are so darn tired, DD often fell asleep during her bedtime bottle.

We always rent a car. DH hates the busses.

Each day I just took to the parks what I needed, knowing we'd be back at the hotel in the afternoons. I only took a spare diaper and any food I thought we'd need. You don't need to be a pack mule, or have your stroller be one either. By 7 months, we had a good schedule. I was probably fortunate.

Hope that helps.
