Hey guys! I've called up Disney and got a quote on what I hope to be our August 2006 trip. I've been asking my DM for years and she has never budged. I then told her about the free dining plan in August and she changed her mind. So now I got a quote for when we want to go and I am so excited. Problem is, she still says maybe/no. And I know that we need to book this soon! Please, Any tips on how to get her to see it my way and give in! Thanks! :cool1:

Oh and by the way, I MIGHT BE GOING TO DISNEY!

I would use guilt :rotfl2: Tell her that it has always been a dream to go to Disney with her and I don't want to wait one more day without that happening. If that does not work then tell her she can have all the Ice Cream she can eat, on you of course. :yay:

Guilt, and strategic use of heart warming disney images printed off the computer and placed around the house.

Maybe I can help....But first you have to tell me what a "DM" is????
Wracking my brain here @ 1:30 am......and I cant figure that out! :confused3

Darling/dearest Mum-see abbreviations, also DH,DW,DD,DS etc

Tell her that you're growing up, and pretty soon you'll be off in college and getting married and the chance to go to WDW as a family will be long gone.

That would work on me!! :teeth:

SINCE Disney has SO much to offer, you've got to find that one thing that you just KNOW will interest her. Gardening? Tell her about the Land. Cuisine? Well it's all over Disney. Music? Broadway? Take her to some of the musical live shows there!
Go with it and run girl!

I wish I could help you, but I've been after my DM to go to WDW with me for years also. In my case my DM is afraid she can't do all the walking there is to be done in the parks and says there's no way she would ride in a wheelchair or scooter. I keep telling her we're going in October, but she won't give me an answer. Like your DM, all I get out of her is a maybe. I'm not giving up yet though.

I am 71 yrs old and I go every year. My DH doesn't want to go and I believe that you cant make someone go who really doesn't want to go. Personally I wouldn't take someone who wasn,t as enthusiastic as me.It is just to expensive and would spoil my fun. If that sounds selfish, I am sorry ,but it is my holiday ,I go on other trips that others enjoy and have a good time.

I agree; don't try to convince her to go. You'll wind up having a lousy time if she's having a lousy time. But what you can do is show your enthusiasm for the trip, and maybe, just maybe, she'll bite. Order your Mickey Mouse ears, hum the Disney tunes, mark off the days on the calendar with little character icons, watch Disney movies, march around the house singing "Mickey Mouse Club" song. Leave the guidebooks all over the house (don't forget the bathroom). Your excitement just might catch on. If not, what do you have to lose? If she still refuses, have a friend on standby to go at the last minute, and have a ball. :cheer2: :woohoo:

I don't know if this really applies.. but...

I really wanted my DR (Dud of a Roomate  ) to go to Disney with me. He didn't really think it was for him. He's 25 and all growed up. (ha)

So I booked the trip with another friend... but told him if he changed his mind we could add him in. We're staying at Pop Century.. so the rooms can accommodate up to four. Central Reservations told us we could add people to the trip right up till 3 days before.. and then she lowered her voice and said "Honestly, probably right up till check-in."

After a few days of hearing us talk on the phone making plans etc.. My DR jumped on-board and is now going !

your mom should feel honored that you want to travel with her out of all the people you could choose. however, don't force her in that she might not have a great time like you or you may be catering to her too much and not get to do what you want to do. have you ever considered solo? i did it and have the best time of my life. when it came closer to my departure date i had 3 or 4 people wanting to go with me so i had to quiet down about it. :rolleyes1

i just thought of something else--- ask her what other better way to see WDW than through her "childs" eyes? :wizard: (sorry, don't know your age) whatever you decide-- good luck and have fun!! :wave2:

duh! Now it makes sense! I had the hardest time figuring that out! Geez!

Ok.. back to the task at hand! HMMMMMMMMMM the only route to go is....GUILT! 'Don't you want to see your grandchildren in Disney'...etc?
BUT BEWARE...If she really dont want to go...dont push it! Moms minds are impossible to change.

I had taken my Mom years ago.....AAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.....she didn't stop complaining the WHOLE time we were there.
Its too Hot! (end of October)
The water is horrible! (the old days before bottled water)
The lines are long!
Its too crowded!
There is no decent coffee (ok she was acurate with that)
There's too many kids running around!
Then she kept on telling the kids..."Oh you dont want to go on that ride...it's not safe !(teacups)
Don't stand in line to take your picture with the characters.....Its too hot and those people inside must be dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let them go back inside!
Lets just go back to the hotel!

Love her dearly, but she is half Marie Barone & half Ida Morgenstern! :teeth:
(ps as of this writing she is sitting 10 feet away from me....If she only knew what I was typing.....WHACK!)

My DH (dimented? hubby) didn't want to go, and even when we went in 1999, he could have been alot more enthusiastic, like me!, so I had given up on going with my DD, her DH and my grandson. We were asking my 4 year old grandson what he thought about going to DW, and he told grandpa that he wanted him to go. Thats all it took! (yippie  :cheer2: :woohoo: )

Besides, how could anyone not want to go? :confused3

Good luck.

It's not that my mom doesnt want to go (she loves WDW). Its just the money issue. I know she has it, she just doesnt neccesseraly want to spend it.

On another note, does anyone have any cute, heartwarming Disney pics they would like to share? LOL! :cool1: :goodvibes

Good for you eleanor! Go have a good time :thumbsup2

I convinced my parents to go with me by giving them Christmas gifts like a Richard Petty Driving Experience and a Park Hopper Pass! Yes, I am relentless ;) And they did come to WDW with us and my mother is now hooked pirate:
