We purchased resale last year and are looking for a smaller add on contract 30-50 points. We understand that it is considerably easier to just go direct, but as someone had posted in the past - as soon as you sign those papers the points "value" depreciates from the $160 points to $80pp. We are not even adding on for the perks because we don't need annual passes and the other "perks" we cant attain with a small direct contract.

What are some of your best tips for finding those hard to get smaller contracts? I am on the email listings for a couple of the resale companies, but more often than not when i go to look the contracts are already pending.

Are there any resale companies who will contact you if you tell them specifics of what you are looking for (resort, UY, points).

And tips or input is appreciated!!

I would reach out to all the resale companies and get on their call lists. Since you have a resale now, contact that company first. Good luck finding what you need.

We just put in an offer for 60 points at OKW and we're now waiting on ROFR. We bought Poly direct last year, and since then we were also looking for a smaller resale contract to add on. TBH, it took months of scanning the resale sites. We weren't in a rush, though, and we wanted something perfect for us, so we were willing to wait. I guess if you wanted something soon, because you wanted to book something in the next year, that wouldn't be a great plan. But contracts are always coming up -- there's about a 30 day turn-around, as I understand it -- and you don't want to get stuck with something you don't really want. So my advice, as shabby as it is LOL, is to just keep perusing the resale sites once or twice a week until something turns up that you want.

I signed up with the board sponsor and received their email(s) daily. The key for us was saying we know what we want and then having the patience to wait for it. We knew we wanted the same UY, and we had a target price point and point amount in mind. We were able to meet all of our criteria after about 5 months. Good luck.

We kept shopping for a small(25-30)contract for AKV. But gave up after 6 months. Ended up buying direct and no regrets. Points were in the account in 48 hours and the big thing we noticed was the closing cost. Resale for small contract around $600. Direct $115. Also could put it on the Disney visa.(love cash back)

You didn't mention what resort so keep in mind that if you are looking for a small add on at a near park resort the going price is probably going to be more like $100+ per point vs. $80 you mentioned.
I've seen SSR and OKW small contracts listed for around $80-$90 but these days the prices for small contracts at resorts like BLT, BWV, BCV are being listed in the $100-$130 range. Also many don't include current use year points despite those inflated prices. So when small contracts are posted at reasonable prices they seem to go immediately. I have a friend Looking for a small BWV add on-I saw one that seemed reasonable and told her right away last week-by the time she looked an hour later it said sale pending. IF you are already on the email lists the only other suggestions I have are to check the websites daily (or use the website www.***************.com which is a search engine to see the listings from several brokers), download their apps that will send you instant notifications when they list a new contract matching your parameters (I know 2 brokers have them), follow timeshare store on twitter/Facebook, etc.

We waited for the perfect BWV 50 pt contract and paid more to ensure we got it. I had seen them passing and being taken at $105 pp. we paid $116 pp but it had 2015 points too. Disney passed in 21 days.i didn't mind paying a bit over what might have passed to get the perfect contract.

For 50 or less, I'd just go retail if available.

Do closing costs vary from broker to broker? We are in the process of buying 60 points, and our closing costs are $470. I didn't find that objectionable.

I believe they do. I was quoted $630 for a 30 pt contract once then I was quoted $530 for 30 from another resaler. I was just shocked when I called disney direct and the were about $115 for a 30 pt. the final cost through disney was about $500 more then resale. Which is more but you get the points right away and you don't have to fool with certified checks since they take credit cards over the phone.

If you can find a private seller, you can do it yourself for less than 10% that cost. LT transfers will be under $200 including recording costs.

It's also nice on the add ons to have the same use year. I have AKV April and from what I have been told there is only about 5-7% AKV with a April use year. So by going direct I got that. Through the resale was like a needle in a hay stack. For us personally anyway
