Has anyone ever used their Visa rewards points card to pay for their tip on DDP? Not the credit card, but the card you get when you cash in your points? I should have enough to cover all of my tips...just curious. Can I also charge the tip only to my room card? TIA:)

I haven't done this but I'm sure you can since the rewards card is an acceptable method of payment in WDW where Credit Cards are taken. The only place that cards weren't accepted were some of the carts that couldn't process any type of Card.

You could charge all of the tips to your room and then at the end of your stay use your rewards card to pay off the balance.

This is what I'm planning on doing.

Thanks for your advice...I thought about that too. I just wasn't sure that tips could be charged to the room...thanks!

Hi! I am planning on using my room charge for tips and paying a lot of it off with my Disney Visa rewards for my July trip!:rotfl2:

good question! You SHOULD be able to, if not, charging it back to the room then paying it off is a great idea.

let us know how how it works for you

I love the idea od charging it back to the room that way you don't have to use multiple methods of payment for the tip and the meal you can just use your room key for all of it. Awesome idea.

I did just this. We spent our first day at MK. I went to City Hall and requested a Disney Rewards gift card. They gave me a card and phone number to call. I called on my cell phone, activated the card, and had Disney Visa transfer my $75 in rewards to the gift card. I used the card to pay tips, as well as DH's breakfast at CM's the next morning (the kids and I were on the DDP but DH was not, as he was attending a seminar offsite most of the trip).

I also charged items to the room. I used my Disney Visa as my card on file, so I'll get reward dollars for my next trip.

HTH,

I just charged all the tips back to the room (set up the room charge with the reg Dis Visa though) on the night before we checked out I got a printout of my room charge total and just transferred the right amount onto the rewards card and then went and paid off the room charges. It worked out great that way. I was orginially going to carry the rewards card around but with all the confusion about this paying for that and needing 3 slips most places for DDP, tip, and OOP stuff it just seemed easier to do all room charge and paying it all at once. The servers were all so crazed I just worried a meal was going to get charged onto my rewards card rather than my DDP and after waiting awhile last trip to fix a few errors I didn't want to deal with it again.

Thanks for your suggestions! I think I'll keep it simple and charge it back to my room, then pay it off with my rewards points. ::yes::

Just a caution.. make sure you settle up the night before you leave. They normally charge your credit card in the wee hours of the morning before you leave the resort. So if you don't want it to go to your regular credit card, then do it the night before.

That's a great idea, i think i may do the same thing. Do you get a receipt of what they charged to your room so you can make sure at that moment that there are no errors?

You will get a receipt for each charge. You can get a list of all of your charges from the front desk of your resort.

Okay,so the plan is to charge tips to my room, then pay it with my rewards points. Should I pay it off about half way through so that my cc doesn't get charged? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

You can just pay the night before you leave. You can ask at check in but I don't think they charge until the day you check out unless you go over a certain amount. It worked out very easily for us that way.

I should have enough on my rewards card to pay tips and some other items too!
