Quaint, inexpensive, good for little kids, next to the lighthouse in Ponce's Inlet

Besides Bubba Gumps and the restaurants at Ocean Walk....nothing knock your socks of great but

Great rasta sauce, spicey, we buy a few jars to take home.

Good wraps and pina coladas, going there for Thanksgiving dinner after the Turkey Rod Run this year, inexpensive, lots of local retired folks, so you know it's a good buy :goodvibes

Good for oysters, peel and eat shrimp, clam chowder, dark and cool inside, kind of a relief when it's super hot out.

Good casual place for shrimp and clam chowder, pina coladas, watched two sting rays playing in the surf in April

(Billy's Tap Room and Pips are closed now) :sad1:

By the lighthouse, didn't have a very good meal there, but watching the boats and the sunset on the intercoastal is awesome.

There's a place called The Wreck on the river, can't find website, great view, good salads, watch the sliding glass doors if you have little ones, ds ran right smack into it.

Hope this helps a little. Have fun planning. Where are you staying?

thx so much for the suggestions (as well as links, AWESOME!).

We are staying at the wyndham ocean walk resort which is right on or near ora st and atlantic ave.

sounds like a nice palce.

A couple of our favorite restaurants in Daytona are Crabby Joe's, right out on a pier over the water, and Barnacles (in Ormond Beach). We always stay in an ocean front suite or condo, and love walking the beach and driving on it as well. There are a few cute miniature golf places on the main road, we always enjoy playing those. If you enjoy seeing lighthouses there is one at Ponce Inlet. If you like NASCAR there is Daytona USA that you can take a tour of at the track. Every time we go to Florida we always spend 2-3 nights at Daytona Beach. :)

i have never once been to or in a lghthouse so researching I think Ponce Inlet is a must.

The Ocean Walk is great, movie theater, restaurants, awesome pool! We've stayed there 3 or 4 times, never disappointed. I've heard complaints when it's crowded about no pool chairs or towels and cleanliness, but we've always gone off season.

(We've brought our dog the last few times, so we've stayed at the La Quinta, which is ok, heated pool, clean and small so you can park right outside your room.)

Oh and Crabby Joes is the link for the Sun Glo Pier, glad to hear that MIGrandma likes it too.

Bring some binoculars if you're interested in sharks. Ponce Inlet has the largest population of them on the eastern Florida coast. If you're up in the light tower early in the morning or near dusk you may be able to see them hunting.

ah no way!?!?!?!?!

I think my wife and kids thank you for now being without me for 2 days as I try to see this. :rotfl:
