Tips on board~ cash or charge?

I have heard some differing points on how quickly the Cm's get their tips and which way is the best to tip them. I would like to go with an envelope already filled with the proper tip amount so that I already have it aside. Then if they deserve more I can add later. I wouldn't tip less unless something really bad happened. But is this the best way or should I charge them along with everything else?

We tipped cash, but either would be just as easy.

We tipped in cash. Didn't have to wait in line to have it put on the card.

We charged it. Guest Services gives you tickets with each amount on them and envelopes so you still have something to hand to your host/hostess and servers. It was easier for us to do it that way, but either way works.

We tipped in cash, had the amounts already put to one side when we boarded, then added a bit extra for the great service.

Sounds like it really does not matter one way or the other. That is good, because I was kind of leaning towards making sure I had it in cash to set aside beforehand so that it would already be budgeted in unless of course I lost it or spent it!

We kind of mixed it up. Charged the regular tip and added some cash for "extras".

FYI, if I found that my server or stateroom host was leaving on vacation as soon as the ship docked, I would be sure to charge EARLY in the week or give all cash. Just makes the accounting easier.

BTW, for those of you charging, you can charge your tips at any time in the week so if you decide by the second day that they're fantastic you can go to guest services and take care of that early.

We use cash for end of cruise tipping as well as in palo.
Never any complaints..lol.
