That I'm surprising her for her birthday in September with a 5 day trip.....??? :cheer2: My mother is the type that doesn't like people to spend money on her, or dote on her for that matter. I've been wanting to do something like this for a long while, but haven't had the means. My Aunt is helping me get her the time off, and my sister may come if my husband can't. I just need some creative ways to tell her. She's gonna kill me right off the bat, so anything I can do to prevent that, would be VERY helpful! My goal is to let her know in July sometime...maybe with a dinner with the rest of the family and tell her, so there's witnesses!! pirate: Now, how do I present it? Do I put something in an envelope and hide it? or what? We're staying in a pirate room at CBR, so we can incorporate that into it somehow. I'm just not that creative!! My Aunt is in on the plot, as well as my sister...just wondering how to break the news!! HELP!! We have a while, so please help me come up with some good ways!! Thanks!!

do you have any pirate dinner shows near you? or a pirate cruise? you could get them in on it. get the disigners involved. you could print out the message on an old looking scroll (check out scrapbooking paper). tie it with an old string. maybe the waitress could hand the scroll to your mom?pirate dinner show in orlando. pirate:

Actually I'm taking her to disney, we have a reservation for Coral reef that night, I was wondering how I tell her about the whole trip in general. I'll probably get the disigners involved, but was wondering if anyone had anything creative in mind. Thanks!!

We did something similar for MIL's 60th birthday. The entire family took her to a Rainforest Cafe and we printed a certificate saying that it's good for 1 free trip to WDW with her family. Her birthday was in Jan but we weren't going until Nov - but it gave us time to plan and get excited with her. Possibly - you can present her with the gift for Mother's Day... just a thought...:confused3

OOOO I like that idea, for mother's day....she'd still have plenty of time to "kill" me!! HAHA It'll be MOSTLY paid for then, but i'd still be over 45 days out for her to cancel....Hmm, good idea! Definedly an option!!

If you have publisher on your computer you can create an invite with clipart and present it to her at Mother's Day or since Fireworks go with Pirates do it at Forth of July.

We surprised my mom with a trip for her 50th birthday at xmas. We put a tiny dollar store Mickey Mouse figure inside a blown up balloon, then blew up another 25 or 30 balloons and put them all in a giant box. The box was then gift wrapped, and on xmas morning she had to open it and figure out what to do with all those balloons (read: pop them!). It was great fun, so I'm all for anything where you get to make her work for finding out the surprise.

My boyfriend just gave me and my children a trip to Disney for my birthday (yes, he's going, too) After he told me about it we decided to surprise my daughter (16). We went to NYC this past weekend together, and he wrote up a card and a small poster with pics of where we are staying and pics of WDW. We went to the Disney store and the character meet and greets were cancelled, so he asked the staff to help him surprise her, this is how the conversation went as we were walking thru the store:
Cast Member: Are you ChelseaRose?
DD: Yes (looking around as she tries to figure out how this person knows her)
Cast Member: Awe, ChelseaRose!
Another Cast Member: THIS IS CHELSEAROSE!!!
DD: (she whips her head around to me and says) MOM, WHAT DID YOU DO???
Cast Member: (hands DD envelope) Can I have everyone's attention? This is Chelsearose and her dreams are about to come true...
By now there are about 5-7 cast members around her clapping/shouting and they tell her she is going to Disney World!
DD burst into tears as all the cast members, and now even a crowd had gathered. They gave her a Dream Certificate at the end.
It was really great to have the staff come out and help in such a fun way.
I have pics if anyone wants to see them, just pm me your email address. I can never get my pics to post.
(Now, my 5 year old son won't be told for a long time because I don't want to hear "Are we leaving tomorrow?" for the next 5 months!)

How SWEET!!! Brings tears to my eyes. :sad1: (but good ones). I love Disney surprises!!

My DH surprised me with a birthday trip last year. He had my DS give me a card that asked if he could stay with his grandparents for the week while mom and dad where in FL! Obviously it's a little different situation but it was a surprise in the card.

We are surprising my DS with our trip in June. I plan on printing out a certificate that we will give him the last day of school (or should I say, his last day of school, since snow days threw off the school calendar and we have to pull him out for the last full day of school :headache: ) saying something along the lines of "Congratulations on being promoted to third grade! As an extra special reward, we are going to Disney World tomorrow!" We're still working on the wording...

However, I surprised DH with this trip on his birthday two weeks ago (since I knew he would have to request the time off work personally, otherwise I would have requested the time off for him). I made up a folder with invitiations to Pop, Hoop Dee Doo, Ohana, and Hollywood & Vine (for the Fantasmic dinner package), tip envelopes for Magical Express, and Celebration nametag designs that I requested from the Creative DISigns board (I don't have the designer's name handy - sorry!). On the front, I used star stickers and created a sheet from last year's Star Wars Weekend poster (the one with Donald in a stormtrooper uniform standing amongst a brigade of stormtroopers) that said Guess Who's Going To Star Wars Weekend? I packed the folder, a bunch of Star Wars stuff, and a Mickey Mouse helium balloon in a big box that used to contain my paper shredder. It took DH a while to figure out that we were going to WDW, but once he did, his reaction was priceless...

How exciting. You can tell your mother that celerations aren't just for the guest of honor but for everyone that attendspixiedust:

Thanks, lots of good ideas. I like the 4th of July idea with made up invitations. I guess I'll have to go back to the disigns board and ask for some more stuff. I made Tshirts and journals for my birthday last month, and that was fun. It'll be lots of fun, just wish it would get here already!! :)
