We took LO to mvmcp last year but she was only a couple months old and mostly slept the whole time aside from a few pictures and going on its a small world. We would like to take her this year as she is older and loves going disney already. Any tips to make this as smooth as possible would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!!

No doubt, others will tell you an afternoon nap is required.

the funny thing is, the kids in our family, unless they were sick, have always been oddly flexible in their sleep tolerances. Beyond infancy, they have also always been very tolerant about eating times. We must be a fluke!

As long as we used a stroller, the kids in our family have been very flexible. At WDW, they have an amazing ability to get by on less sleep and irregular naps.

Then, you know your child best. I'm sure many children do best when they stick to regular nap/meal times.

then again, I've seen a few threads where parents got blasted because their kids fell asleep on the late night bus ride back to the hotel. While driving the bus goes dark. So it hardly seems fair to me. Most the adults also fall asleep riding the midnight bus back to their hotel! At the very least, most folks close their eyes.

When we do a party, we found it smart to eat a light meal about 3:30pm (a great option is Gasparilla Grill at GF. Arrive about 2, see the Gingerbread House, photos, relax, eat, hop on the monorail. Arrive just before 4pm.

Get your cookies early (do they still give out cookies and cocoa?) You will be going against the flow- get your dessert early when the lines are short.

Late, you'll probably want another snack. That's a good time to hop into Starlight Ray's. Again, no lines.

When the party is over, let the stroller napping begin.

We're kind of the opposite. When our kids were little (2 and 4) they would nap in the stroller while out all day (even though 4yo wasn't a napper at home, Disney is a lot of fresh air) and still they were in bed by 7 or 8 (2yo was a good sleeper so 7 was the norm) at Disney.

They never stayed awake for fireworks until much older, so even with a nap they'd be asleep early (I kept their pretty much regular routine - or I'd pay for it with a cranky kid the next day).

We've never done any parties at Disney - to us it would be too much when they were little throwing off their sleep but older we never saw the draw.

I would put the little one in jammies and have them ready for bed, so they could sleep in the stroller. To me, though, I'd wait honestly. I'd just do the parks you want but skip the late nights (but that's just me, so take the advice for what you paid for it!).

Hope you have a great trip!

Really?? Thats sad, because the kids falling asleep on the dark bus riding back to the hotel, make for some of my sweetest memories! Seeing their little faces sound asleep, knowing they had to be dreaming about all of the magical things that happened that day. Then carrying them back to the room and tucking them in.

Or the first time my oldest was old enough to let him stay up and close down the park on a late extra magic hours night. Even though I had to wake him enough to help him stumble back to the room. These are the kinds of memories that make Disney so special to me!

Kind of miss those days! Cant carry any of them back to the room anymore :(
