After a 1 BR. Although we've stayed in a studio a few times for single nights, for more than one night, we've always gotten a 1 BR. However, for our upcoming HHI stay, I reserved a studio, trying to save points. Well, last night was the first DH had heard of us staying in a studio (I'm sure I'd told him, but no doubt he didn't listen before) and now he's all upset-"We ALWAYS get a 1 BR there," and when I tried to tell him I was trying to save points, "Can't you borrow points or something?", which really surprised me because he's so DVC-unknowledgeable, I didn't even know he was aware of borrowing. So what tips can you give me (besides "So next time YOU make the reservations!"-he already got told that)? Since we leave in 4 days, I'm quite sure it's too late to call and try to change our reservation.

The odds may be way against it but I'd still call and check on a 1BR.

The year we were at HHI, it was about this time and it was so quiet we got upgraded to a 2 bedroom from a 1 bedroom. I would think you'd be able to change the ressie, but you might also get an upgrade on check-in.

One positive is that the studios at HHI are the largest of any DVC resort (around 460 sq. ft) so it won't be as bad as you think.

We stay in the studios all the time. You'll be fine.

My one BIG suggestion deals with laundry. This is especially true at WDW...bring enough clothes to NOT do laundry!!!

A couple of years ago...we brought a couple of warm outfits, but mostly short pants, t-shirts, etc. Well...it turned off really cold! We ended up spending an entire evening in the Jambo DVC laundry room. :headache: It was o.k. It was even pretty nice for a laundromat...But it was still a laundromat!!! That is not where I envision myself on vacation!!!

we do studios all the time even with our two little ones....it is fine. It does make us appreciate when we do have the bigger spaces. When we stayed in the treehouse, it was like being in a mansion;)

how are the studios compared to a normal deluxe room? we plan on primarily staying at studios (just my partner and myself). will these feel "less than". should we plan on intermittent 1 BDRMs?

My DH and I stay in studios all the time. Our 1st 2 DVC stays were 1 BR and every one since then has been in a studio when it was just the 2 of us.

We like studios better than standard hotel rooms as we like one bed and a sofa better than 2Q or 1K and a chair. We also really use the kitchenette. I usually have to work for a time on vacation and my DH does the laundry while I an working (yea, I know I am spoiled). I once determiend that we could send all our laundry out for cleaning for less than $30 per day, so it would not make sense to pay double the points so that we had a washer/dryer. -- Suzanne

If I may make a suggestion. . .

If your husband has a miserable experience in a studio, maybe he will let you buy more points!!

That's what my DH did last year after staying in a studio!!:rotfl:

Remember how itf eels to stay in every other nice hotel in the world without paying insane $$$$ for a suite? A studio is like that.

Have a great time! I suppose you could have told him that the 1 bedrooms were all booked, and that you're very lucky to have gotten the studio! That's the time we were waitlisted for our DS's family to go down to HHI! It's spring break for the schools in at least Melrose MA and our waitlist never came through.

Actually, we just did buy more points at HHI. Come to think of it, I made the reservation before we bought the points, so maybe if I remind him of that fact. It never occurred to me when he said "Well, I just bought you more points at HHI-why didn't you use them?"
And that's a great suggestion, Bobbi-I'll tell him that I just remembered-all the 1 BRs were already booked. I know it's going to be a very busy time, between the Heritage golf classic and Easter.

Congrats on the more points!! :thumbsup2 In the future your DH will be so happy with that add on, especially if he feel a bit cramped in the studio. :goodvibes

If it's just going to be the two of you, don't worry. The studios are huge. Last year, when we went there for our 20th anniversary trip, we stayed in a studio, and it was fine. Now, I wouldn't want to stay in any studio with my two teenage sons! We're all going back this fall and will be staying in a 2 BR.

Have to jump in here...GREAT advice! lol! My rationale to the DH was " if we're going to spend $600 for 2 nights tacked on to our stay because we don't have enough points, why not just spend the $600 down on more points?" Now, who can argue w/ that logic??:lmao:

Of course, I'm tiptoeing around the fact that I spend half the points over the past 1 1/2 years going to RunDisney races without him...:rolleyes1

Your logic sounds like my logic! :rotfl2:
