Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has advice on things that might increase our chances for getting an outside table for a late dinner, so we may also watch Illuminations outside at Rose & Crown?

TIA

1) There is no way to increase your odds beyond others.
2) Just make an ADR 1½-2 hrs before fireworks. and ask for a patio table.
3) Remember you MUST take what is offered, inside or outside.

We made our ressies for 730. I made a repuest when I called. We ended up with two table on the water. Don't know if we were just lucky. Good meal & a great view.

1) Yes, you were lucky.
2) Requests at the time time of the ressie do not count.
3) The request must be made at the podium.

During a trip with D-Inlaws last Summer, I was hoping so much for outside seating at R&C for Illuminations. I don't know -- I guess I wanted to impress DW's parents. As it turned out, we did get what we wanted and it worked out perfect. The method.... I called about four times leading up to the trip making sure my request for outside seating was noted. I also called at lunchtime to reiterate that request. Am I a pest? Yes! That said, I prepared myself for an inside table with standing room at the Illuminations viewing area (not a bad deal at all) and ended up with the best seat in the house. Do the same and you won't be disappointed. By the way --- I know people say it's the luck of the draw and I can't say they're wrong --- but I believe that being nice gets you things you wouldn't otherwise get and even if it is doesn't help, it's always a good idea to be nice.

We are going to book this restaurant and hope for outside table ... if not, is it correct that you can come outside when they start for a view somewhere?

When we went last May, I had a ressie for 7:20. I checked in for my reservation at 6:55. I requested an outside table for fireworks, the girls told me they have no choice but to seat us wherever they can. One of the girls went and talked to a server and came back and said if I check in now i'll be stuck inside. She also said come back in 15 minutes and I'd be outside. 15 minutes later our group of 5 was sitting in the cornertable against the wall. Second seats in the house for Illuminations. The first I think is on the bridge near the international gateway, you have to stand but they are perfect.

There are many, many great places to watch Illuminations around the World Showcase lagoon. Basically, any spot that is not blocked by a tree or a structure and is not downwind of the fireworks is as good as any other spot. Many good spots can be found as little as 15 minutes before the show without having to go to all the effort described above.

My now husband and I were at the R&C two years ago and were extremely lucky. I've been to Disney a ton, but I hadn't been to R&C. Our reservation was for about 7:30. Just before dessert, our waitress asked us if we wanted to go outside for Illuminations. We were seated inside, but there weren't any other people inside. There were a few other people outside, but it was very nice. It being so empty inside throughout most of our meal also made it more romantic :)

Calling won't get you a patio table, no matter how many times you do it - as Rusty wrote you need to make the request at the podium, because a Disney dining ADR is not a typical reservation. They don't hold a table open for you, you're supposed to get the next table for your party size to open up. You may have to wait, or they may tell you they have to seat you wherever they can. No guarantees.

We were there early December, when we checked in we requested outdoor seating. They said that they could not guarantee it,but they would try. We told them we were in no hurry and would really appreciate it.They paged us 15 minutes after our ressie time.and sat us outdoors.Talk about disney magic, great dinner, and the best fireworks show our family of three has ever experienced!
