I usually tip $1.00 pp/pd for housekeeping but was told this is not necessary at WDW. Does anyone know if this is true? Are wages set up so tipping is not necessary in WDW? I would hate to short change a hard working person that depends on tips. Usually the mousekeeping in Disney has been very well done.

This is one of the great debates on these boards. If you feel they went above and beyond then tip. We always tip to spread a little magic to the housekeepers. Others will disagree.

I just asked the same thing over on the Resorts board. Looks like most people tip $1 pp/pd.

I usually tip $1 per person per day. However, when it's just Dh and I, then I tip $3 a day. I keep the room very neat, but I still feel that anyone cleaning the bathroom, etc. deserves a little extra.

No tips are ask for or expected at WDW. If you like the service and want to tip then by all means leave a tip. But don't feel that you have to leave a tip if you don't want to.

One of the boards mentioned that Mousekeeping does not always take the tip when you put it out.
My suggestion is to put it out before the last day, that way if they don't take it, you may be able to hand it to them on your last day. I would hate for you to leave money for Mousekeeping and another guest get it because Mousekeeping didn't take it.
But then again, that is spreading Disney magic.:D

Better yet, leave your tip for the Mousekeeper daily. That way if they have a day off they will not miss your tip. The other person cleaning the room that day will receive one also.

Usually we leave our tip daily. Bring along a supplies of premarked (Housekeeping Tip) envelopes. I've left them on the pillow or taped to bathroom mirror and they have always been taken.

We also tip daily so the appropriate person gets it. I use envelopes marked especially for them so there is no question about what it is, and they are always taken.

I tip $1-$2/person/day but I think it's completely optional.

I printed some mousekeeping envelopes lastnight i think that there a great idea we will deffo leaving a tip everyday

I agree... tip daily.

I've found that sometimes tips are not taken because of the location at which they were left. The housekeeper must differentiate the intention between loose pocket money and a tip. Whereas a labeled envelope would be best, I've never done that. I think the bathroom sink is an appropriate place to leave the tip.

We (2 of us) always tip $3-5/day depending on the quality of the hotel and service with the notion that a few extra dollars to us probably isn't that important but might make the housekeeper's day a little more magical. We also like to tidy up a bit before going out and especially leave the towels on the sink or toilet so the housekeeper doesn't have to bend down to the floor constantly - can you imagine doing that all day? As a die-hard collector of hotel soaps, it seems hotel staff really appreciates that. I've got a bathroom cabinet full of extra soaps left by housekeeping. :)
