How do you keep your kids occupied while waiting in line for a ride? Don't say tablet or cell phone.

My first suggestion is to make a good plan so you don't have to stand in long lines.

Failing that, you could have a conversation with them. Or play "I spy" or something.

If you get one of those yellow Hidden Mickey books they sell in park stores, you can look up the queue you are in and look for Hidden Mickey's together in line! It's fun!

I am interested in some ideas too, last year I had a hard time in lines with my 2 year old. All he wanted to do was climb on the chains and that is a big no no and also very dangerous. When we go in September he will be 3.5 and he's patients level is still very low.

Talk to them. Have them visit with others in line. Rock, paper, scissors. Thumb wars.

We've not been to WDW yet, but, we do I Spy, 20 questions, jokes, etc. But my favorite is when we just can have a nice long conversation while waiting. I love to listen to everything he has to say. :)

Thanks for all the ideas! We play lots of I-spy. And of course we talk. But these are all great suggestions.

There is also a book called "things to do in line" that points out interesting facts in each line.

Or, you can do what my father in law did in every line over 5 minutes and just complain incessantly, apparently that makes it move faster :-)

We play Disney Fantasy game, where the girls tell me what their Disney princess name would be, and make up tales of their adventures through the magical world of Disney. Also we do a game we call what is bigger. Like what is bigger the city of Orlando or the state of Florida? An elephant or a kangaroo?

Patty cake games and cat's cradle rope games, you just need a piece of string or yarn.

We brought Disney trivia cards with us one trip. That was fun in line (though it possibly drove everyone around us crazy).

We've always had conversations, read trivia about the rides (printed and in my park bag), gone through pictures on the camera/phone, went over and over and over park maps (that day's park and the ones we were going to in the days ahead as well), talked about our trip, what we've experienced that we liked, wanted to do again, etc.

I've also read that pipe cleaners can keep a kid occupied. Small, easy to bring along, won't annoy other guests. We bring Wiki-Sticks (like pipe cleaners, kinda). They've been an easy, convenient, sure occupier at restaurants, planes, waiting rooms, etc since DD was 2. She's now 11!

The quiet game?

I kid, I kid...

Do the one word story...I say "once" you said "upon" A says "a" B says "time" C says "there" D says "lived"...
