We will be driving from San Diego to Anaheim on Tuesday July 17 and staying for 2 nights at the CCI before we leave to drive to Laguna beach and then back to San Diego. Can anyone reccomend what time we should leave San Diego to drive to Disney? We do not want to hit rush hour traffic but also want to get to the parks at a reasonable hour in the morning. We cannot leave the night before as we have tickets to a padres game.
Also can anyone reccomend the best sratedgy for hitting the parks? I am prepared for it to be very busy but can anyone guess what the wait times for rides will be like? This is our first trip to California and it is also our honeymoon so I want to make it as enjoyable as possible. Thanks for all your help!

I have no idea about the drive time, but I wanted to make sure that you were aware that July 17th is Disneyland's birthday. It is not a big one like the 50th, but there will still be many people there to celebrate!

Yikes I didn't realize it was DL's Birthday - do you think it will be way more busy? Should I consider staying at Laguna the Tuesday night and going to Disney Wed-Thurs instead? I am also thinking maybe I will cancel Laguna all togther and give myself another day at Disney. This way we won't be as rushed. Anyone have any thoughts?

I would not worry about July 17 and DL's birthday. Almost no one cared about that date (as far as visiting DL goes) until the 50th celebration which lasted over two July 17s in 2005 and 2006. With it being a week day (Tuesday), I personally would not worry about it.
