Tips for getting into the Photopass position in DCP?

I have a phone interview for DCP on Tuesday. I'm really interested in becoming a Photopass, but I hear it's one of the more difficult to get into because there are fewer positions.

Does having photography experience help? (which I do)

I think I'd be great at this but how do I convince the interviewer this?

Having photography experience definitely couldn't hurt.
When the interviewer asks for your top 3 roles, definitely mention that first.
Just be super enthusiastic about it and I'm sure they'll notice how much you want that role.

My #1 choice is a Character Performer but photopass photographer is my 1st choice if I don't make it past the auditions. I have more experience filming/editing, though, than doing still photography.

During my interview, they asked which of my top choices I thought I was most qualified for & being a photographer was my answer since my experience with film/having to travel around my college campus carrying equipment around and such since she specifically asked if I would be alright with carrying 13 pounds of equipment every day.
