Tips for Cruising Solo (Especially on the Wish)

I've taken the plunge and booked a solo cruise for April. I've cruised many times with others, both on DCL and other lines, but am looking for any tips/advice/etc. from others who have cruised solo. It's a 3-night on the Wish (mostly because I want to see what all the Wish fuss is about, lol), so if there are any tips specific to the Wish I'll take those too.

Thanks in advance! :)

I have sailed on seven solo DCL cruises (17 DCL cruises in total) but not on the Wish. That one was with family. It all depends on what you like. I am a big fan of the adult pool/deck areas, and the Wish is quite underwhelming. However, the three nights will fly by if it is your first time on the Wish! If you enjoy a cocktail, there are many new options and spaces. Even if you don't drink, I recommend trying out each space, including The Rose. Go to all three restaurants for your dining and all three shows. The Pirate Deck Party and fireworks are different from the other ships, so go to that.

There are so many details to check out on the Wish. We started at the top deck and made out way down, walking forward to aft, port, and starboard so we didn't miss anything. We also loved the food onboard.

Deck 11 will get you to Marceline Market and Festival of Foods.
Bring your own drink cup.
Do what makes you happy. Remember: it's your vacation, too.
I've enjoyed the drink of the day. I enjoy it more because of the price.
You may have to check at Guest Services to see if you can get a table at Palo or Enchante. I couldn't book either as a party of 1.
You may be seated at dinner with other solo cruisers. I loved it because I'm a social person and had 3 nice people with me every night at dinner, but your experience may vary.
You get the whole bed to yourself!

Solo or with family, my cruise doesn’t really change. Depends on what you like doing on a ship.

My sister came home with a drawstring bag she decorated during arts and crafts. Don’t avoid family (or any activities) just because they seem to be for families. Even if you just watch - like the Jack Jack Diaper Race or other activities in the Hero Zone (you could give the obstacle course a try (take socks).

Don’t skip dining just because you are alone, either.
I have never seen the Jack Jack Diaper Race, but maybe this cruise is the time! :) And I am planning to do dining for sure; not skipping that just because I'm solo!

Thanks, and that's part of why I did a 3-nighter as a solo, I figured that would be a good amount of time to do some exploring on a ship that's new to me! I am excited to check out some of the lounges; I've heard great things about The Rose so it's definitely on my list.

I love fireworks and didn't realize until your post the Pirate Night party and fireworks are different, so now I definitely have to check that out too!

I tried to book Palo brunch and it kept erroring out, probably because I am a party of 1. :( I could book dinner, but I don't want to do specialty dining for dinner as I want to see all three of the MDRs.

I requested a table by myself, but know that may not happen. I'm just not a huge fan of small talk so I've never been a fan of sharing at table with strangers, personally. But if I do end up sharing I'm sure it'll be just fine!

I would also go to Luna when you board (I think they open after 1) to double down on the request for your own table if that's what you really want. I had also requested before the cruise, and it wasn't actually granted. When I went to Luna, the cast member said although it was a full ship and they don't have many single tables, he'd try to do what he could. We ended up getting our own table for the two of us!

On the other hand, I was able to book both Enchante dinner and Palo brunch this morning for my 4 solo night cruise leaving 5 June. Who knows what the difference was🤷
