This is something I was told before my last trip to WDW back in May of 2001 and it was, if nothing else, a headache reducer. It does add a little walking but I would rather walk more than stand in an endless line.
When leaving with all the lemmings at the close of MK, instead of trying to elbow your way onto the monorail at MK or onto the boat, take the short walk over to the Comtemporary Resort. From there, go the resort monorail and hitch a ride. When we did that, there was nobody there with us and were basically alone on the train. It took us only a fraction of time it would take if we would have waited in those longs lines.
Also, we did do this with a six and four year old. Believe me, it felt good to bypass all those people waitng at the MK station.
