We have not been to Disney World since 2020. So much has changed that I am feeling nervous about what it will be like. I felt like a pro with the old fastness system, and we had our way of touring through each park. Now, I know we will have to purchase Genie Plus and Lighting Lanes with no guarantee that we will get to ride more than a few rides...I have seen that some people purchase Genie Plus but only get to use it for 1-3 rides. Is this normal? Does anyone have any tips for our family of 5 to maximize our day? We purchased a one day park hopper and want to try to hit 3 of the 4 parks--hitting our favorites at Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot. Is this possible if we purchase 2 Individual Lighting Lanes and the Genie Plus? I feel like it is so much more expensive than it was before, but then everything is more expensive...

I will say, even for people like my family, who go to WDW fairly often, we struggle sometimes too since so much changes and it changes all the time.

We have had a fairly positive experience with G+ and iLL$ since it's all been rolled out and as someone who keeps an eye on things at the parks fairly regularly, I'd say, anecdotally of course, that more people are "satisfied" not sure if that's the right word, with Genie since it's been running since late last year as they're slowly working through kinks. It's no FastPass+ system but it's manageable for anyone with moderate tech skills. Do take some time to educate yourself on how G+ works and make sure you're watching a current youtube video or reading updated articles since the system has made some changes.

Touring Plans, Disney Tourist Blog, Allears, etc. have some good content on Genie+. You are right that there are no guarantees but if you do run into any snags with Genie Plus while in the parks, the CM under the blue umbrellas should/can be able to help you. I have gotten into the habit of screen shotting and saving all my G+ reservations and my iLL$ just in case something goes south. Also, read the post on here below. All very helpful.

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely take a look at the post you suggested. We have watched several you tube videos on the system. For some reason I feel really anxious because everything is so different from what I am used to.

I had a great experience with Genie+, but I am not sure how successful you will be if you want the most popular rides in the 3 parks via hopping in one day. You can’t hop until after 2pm and genie+ for many popular rides go quickly in the am. Maybe if you have a list of rides in each park you want to ride, we can try to give advice about what to get for genie+ first.

I totally get it but once you have a day under your belt of using G+ you’ll be more comfortable. Do practice some before the trip so you’re familiar with the system. Keep an eye on the system a few days before the trip so you can get a general idea of availability too.
