Hi,

We are a young male gay couple in our early 20's & time is getting near for our hol to the world, in early July 2012.

We are staying on site and although we have been many times before to the world, this is our first time on site.

If possible can you give us hints and tips as although we have been before we want to take everything in, ride EVERY ride lol!! in our 2 week stay at port orleans riverside.

Also is there anything else you suggest we should do?

And this is a silly question i know, we are going on July 10th for 2 weeks, will there be alot of other Brits there at this time? dont know why but i like to know im sorrounded by fellow Brits!!

Oh! and btw, when do i start planning and what do i plan???? we are not going to be ones who need dinner reservations/charchter meals etc! everyone seems to start planning ages in advance, but not sure what we need to plan! lol

Thanks in advance.
:woohoo: :love::thumbsup2

I'm a non-planner so the only thing I plan in advance are my meals. My "touring style" when I do Disney is wake up, go to the bus stop, first bus there, that's the park I go to. So I'm the wrong person to ask about planning, lol.

However, I can say that maybe taking a tour might be nice if it's in the budget. The Wild Africa Trek isn't cheap but it's AMAZING! Also, if you're into gardening at all, the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot's The Land is very interesting and priced under 20$ which is nice too! You can sign up for that one on the day of the tour so you don't need to book to far in advance.

If you're there for 2 weeks, I don't imagine you'll have a problem taking everything in, but make good use of the fast-pass system for certain rides that have long lineups (Space Mountain, Toy Story Mania, Soarin, and Kali River Rapids are the ones that come to mind immediately) so that you're not stuck in line half your trip.

We're an older couple and we plan nothing but special TS meals. WDW holidays are to relax!

Getting to the park for rope drop is key to being able to ride everything. Since you're onsite you can use the morning Extra Magic hour at each park and get a jump on all the most popular stuff. That makes it possible to relax and "smell the flowers' during the rest of your day. We also love the EMH really late at night...the parks are gorgeous and the crowds get thinner the later it gets. We love to ride something like Buzz Lightyear over and over.

There always seem to be a large number of Brits when I got but we're never there in July. Most of my UK friends adore the heat and it's a terrific time to take advantage of the pool and water parks in the afternoon. Then you can return to the parks at night when it cools down.

I agree that tours are really interesting and different. Our favorite is the Backstage tour at AK, which concentrates on the animal's care and training. We also love to rent a boat for 1/2 hour and tour the various "lakes" around the World. It's especially nice to toodle around POR...some areas really seem like the bayoo!

If you haven't done it before, go to the Board Walk area and check out Jelly Rolls, a piano bar that's terrific fun. That's about the best "adult" entertainment available these days.

Have a great holiday!

Thanks thats all great advice :)

And is there any transport for us to go to universal studios??
And maybe kennedy space?

Thanks

P.S
Anyone wanna give me advice on what and when to plan lol and is going in July a long time away or should i be getting excited lol

I just took a taxi to Universal, it was about 20-ish mins away and not too expensive. Not sure about Kennedy though, hopefully someone else can shed some light on that one for you!

Like I said in my previous post, I only plan my TS meals and tours, beyond that I fly by the seat of my pants and find that works just fine for me. Hopefully a super-planner picks up on this thread and can help you out there!

As far as being "surrounded by Brits," I haven't been to Disney (or really even Orlando) and not run into many, many folks from the UK. Or as DH said on our last trip, "Will the last person out of the UK please turn out the lights?" ;)

It also amuses him greatly, because I lived in England when I was a kid, and anytime I'm around a similar accent (or even watching BBC), bits of my accent creep back in.

Segway tour at Epcot is great fun. Book it for 2 hours before the park opens. You get to zip around an empty patk and then wave at the guests as they enter at opening.

My partner and I have a few favorites to share with you...

Pm extra magic hours - we get in soooo many rides during those last few hours - especially the last hour because the parks really start to thin out. We save the big draw rides until then. Since you are staying on site, you'll be able to enjoy EMHs. We LOVE being in the parks after dark!!!! A few of our must do late night items: Tower of Terror (take your time walking up to the mansion!), taking in the castle with no one around, walking around the lake at Epcot, the fountain in future world, being one of the last ones out of the parks...... and the list can go on.... these are extra magical times for us.....

While my DP was more excited to try this than me, we enjoy character breakfasts! After my first one, I'm hooked! We like to book during the last hour - people start to thin out and you get extra attention...and some great times with cast members too.... We love 1900 Park Fair -the food and characters...

I'm a planner - doing your homework and research about the parks are worth their weight in gold! You can save yourself a lot of headaches by being prepared...... On our first trip, it allowed us to really maximize our time by knowing what to expect....and there are still a lot of extra magical unplanned moments that occur!!! These boards are a great resource.

We have met so many nice families and people on the buses! Some of our best stories occur because of people we've met on the bus! ...most (not all) people are in good spirits....and it's great to meet people from all over the world. The bus is a great place where this can happen.

.....have fun!!!!!!!!!
