Could someone tell my how much you are suppose to tip the the porters? Is it a lump sum or $$ per lugage? When we went on our Carnival Cruise, they wanted $5.00 per bag.

Thanks for your help!

"...they WANTED (????) $5.00 per bag." How did they relay this info. to you? A tip, in my opinion, is something given without request for helpful, exceptional service. We typically tip $1.00 - $2.00 per bag depending on the size & weight.

Wow, that does seem steep!

We usually tip about $2 per bag as well but last time the porter did rather better out of us as our car driver was hopeless - arrived late, drove way too fast (maybe cos he was late but still a scary experience, rude etc. So the porter got some of the driver's tip as well as his own. He was helpful and deserved it.

when arriving we usually a buck or two depending upon the quantity and size of our bags.

When leaving, if they take our bags to the buses we tip the $1-2 per bag. If we have them shlep them all the way out to the far parking lot or to where we pick up shuttles, we tip them more because they are "loosing" money by spending much more time with us rather than making several shorter trips.

WOW! Thanks for the tip. $2.00 per bag is much better than $5.00. How did we know they wanted that much? They told us. All my DH had was a $5.00 and $20.00 bill and he sure wasn't going to give them $20.00 for 2 bags. They didn't seem to happy with us.

Thanks again for the info!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We also gave the porter $1 per bag when we arrived. We parked in the closest lot but with the kids there was no way we could handle all the bags we had & get thru customs too without losing one of the kids. I had a $10 ready and held it in my hand folded up at the end of the row when we found our bags. A supervisor came over to us within a few seconds and got the next porter thru to door to help us. It was the same one who had helped us out the week before & he insisted on putting the bags in the car for us while we buckled in the kids. LOL! I remember his comment when he saw the Explorer. He said that it would be easy to load us up since we actually had a car that would fit the bags we had. :)
