I know I have seen somewhere on this site the guidelines for tipping of ship staff-however now I cannot find it. Could someone please guide me?

This information was from Deb's website:
http://allearsnet.com/cruise/cruise.shtml

Person: Three-Night Cruise Four-Night Cruise Seven-Night Cruise
Stateroom Host/Hostess $10.70 $14.50 $25.25
Dining Room server 11.00 14.75 25.75
Dining room asst. server 8.00 10.75 18.75
Dining room head server 2.75 3.75 6.50
Dining Manager Your discretion Your discretion Your discretion
Room Service Your discretion Your discretion Your discretion

These amounts are for each guest per cruise, not per day.

Hope that helps. :wave2:

I suggest going to her site and reading the Magical Disney Cruise Guide which you can download to Word. Everything you want to know about Disney cruises is there.

The info will also be in your documents when you arrive, and then will be received in your stateroom the day before it is time to leave the ship.

I have not been able to access that guide ever since it was announced "new, now in pdf format" or whatever. I read it before, not that long ago, but now when I click on it nothing comes up and I have adobe.

Can the tips be given on a credit card, or do you have to have the cash and put in envelopes?

You can put tips on your ship account (on your credit card). Very easy and you can take care of it at Guest Relations. Avoid the busy times, and it will take only a few minutes.

Last time our UK tour operator included all tips and we found vouchers in our room near the end of the holiday with the pre charged amount.

We added cash and game them.

On the next cruise I have booked through Dreams so they will not be included but plan to charge them to my staeroom account / or credit card.

Care near the end of the cruise guest services gets a bit busy for this, might be an idea ot do earlier rathan than later.

Forms were on a desk near guest services with suggested amounts.

An option is to prepay your ship account, directly, or by dreams if you do not wish to worry about the cost on the ship.

From what i hear they deserve it but from where i came from you only make $80 a day. It would be hard to pay that much in tips for a family of five.

jacemom,

I just went to Deb's website and downloaded that pdf file--try again. If it doesn't work for you try re-downloading Adobe...sometimes that helps!!

What about spa tipping? based on a percentage of your spa bill?:confused3

I feel your pain; the trip alone for our family of five was years in the planning and saving! (no hate mail please, just saying...; i too have heard wonderful things and have no doubt the CMs are worth every cent!) :worried:

Huh?
It's hard to pay the amount of the cruise too... but we don't get to go on the cruise unless we pay for it. In other words- hard as it may be for many... to go on a Disney cruise... they don't go until they've paid for it. I don't think anyone should go on a cruise if they can't afford the tipping (if deserved- I don't believe in tipping the recommended amount if you receive poor service).

I re-downloaded Adobe and then it worked. Weird, but thank you for the suggestion...there's lots of useful information in that guide! :sunny:

As far as tipping, I don't really think that's so much, but I looked at the cost of the cruise OVERALL, including hotel the night before, airfare, tips, extra charges for drinks, etc. I think it ALL needs to be considered when forming a budget...that way there aren't any "surprise expenses" later on!

Is that wages of $80 a day? Is that an 8 hour day? Your cabin attendant and your servers basically work from before sunup to after sundown in one capacity or another to make YOUR cruise the experience of a lifetime. They bust their behinds for 3, 4 or 7 days--always 7 days a week--so YOU can sit on your butt and do nothing. You have NO worries on a Disney cruise unless you create them.

If you aren't comfortable tipping the full amount that's your business, but don't try to justify your reasoning on what used to happen at home. There is NO comparison where most people "come from" and a Disney cruise. And please don't try to explain away your conscience.

Too many people expect way too much in this world and don't realize all they are doing is putting burdens on others.

WOOOOOOOOO! Calm down. She didn't say she wasn't going to pay it, or was going to go on a cruise with the intention of not paying it. She simply stated...

That's a statement of fact for this family. A simple statement of fact. I don't see a counter, so who knows if they are even going on a cruise. And let's try not to "examine" each other's conscience. I highly doubt she's a bad person based on her post.

Dang, no wounder someone said no hate mail. Like i said "were i came from" As i no longer live there. and yes it was $80 a day wages fyi. As my DH works for an electric company, we are thinking about going and sure wont let your statement sway us, have a great day.
