Tipping?

Normally when we stay in a hotel we leave the tip for housekeeping on the last day of our stay (an amount good for the whole stay). Is this wrong? Should we be leaving a tip each day? I never even thought about it until I read a tip to prepare daily envelopes in advance.

I leave daily envelopes. Last May, I encountered 3 different mousekeepers, 3 diff. days. So I just leave $$ every morning before we leave the room.

What do you Diser's believe to be a good tip for housekeeping?
It seems that everyone has a different opinion. Our trip is coming up in May and I would love your input.

You might get a different mousekeeper every day, so should you decide to leave a tip, daily is the best choice.

It is usually my DW and I, so if we leave the room in a normal state (not a huge mess, used towels, beds unmade) -- $3/day. If I think we've been rather untidy or sloppy, I'll bump it to $5. If we've been complete pigs -- that usually requires more $$ plus a note of apology!

Mostly I've read an average of $2/person per day if you choose to tip.

We generally leave $3-5 per day, it's two, sometimes three of us. We also elave another $2-3 in the evening for turndown service where applicable.

If we've made a mess or are particularly cluttered, I'll leave a few extra dollars.

I leave the money on the sink area in the bathroom with a note "For Mousekeeping, Thank you! ¡Gracias! Mèsi!". Figure that covers the three primary languages spoken by WDW housekeeping CM's.
