When tipping the housekeeper, do you usually leave a tip at the end of your stay or a little each day? I am an end of stay tipper myself, but I have heard people say that they tip a little each day. I don't know what the advantage would be. If you were the housekeeper would you rather have your tip spread out over a week or all at once? WHAT TO DO???? I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!

I've read on these boards to give every day, just in case you dont have the same housekeeper your whole stay.

We usually leave a tip each day. We normally tip a $1.00 per person. If the service is really good, we may throw in an extra $1.00 or two. :)

I wonder why the mousekeepers sometimes take the tip and sometimes don't.

I never thought about not having the same housekeeper, but every time we have stayed before there is a placard on the table with the housekeepers name on it. It was always the same girl. Our last stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort we had the BEST housekeeper EVER. Her name was Donna and she was absolutely delightful. We had her for the duration of the stay. Beats me if she ever took a day off!

The same person may not clean your room at the beginning and end of your stay...so tipping every day would ensure that the person who cleans your room on that day would receive the tip.

Better than your regular housekeeper just happening to have the day off on the day you leave and the person who fills in gets a week worth of tip.

I leave a few bucks everyday in Mousekeeping Envelopes that I print up before we leave.

I've been curious about this myself. We are typically end of trip tippers as well but only stay 3 nights usually. I read somewhere (Deb's site perhaps?) that you may receive better service i.e. towel animals if you tip each day.
Any truth to this? We've had a few special things happen but not a lot and I'm wondering if it would be better to tip daily? And if so, how much? A dollar a person doesn't sound unreasonable.

We use to tip every day but not anymore. We will tip the first day and see what kind of service we get. If we are not happy with the service we will not tip anymore. But if the service is deserving of a tip, then we will leave one every day.

On our trip in August we tipped every day. We didn't ever get any towel animals..:( , but that was probably because we weren't traveling with any kids. Just us adults, oh well! We had great mousekeeping service though. If I needed extra towels or an iron they were at the room in about 15 minutes.

We now tip every day instead of at the end of the trip. Our first stay at WDW was at CBR and we had a lovely housekeeper. Of course, on the last day, when we left a large tip, someone else was the housekeeper. She was very nice and appreciative, but we didn't hit our target.

Now we always leave our tip daily in a marked envelope. My DD enjoys decorating and filling the envelopes before we leave for WDW. If you just leave money out, I think some housekeepers won't take it because they could get into trouble. If you clearly mark it for housekeeping, however, there is no confusion.

Maybe it depends on how long you stay? I know we stay at least 10 days and have always gotten one mousekeeper for 5 days, then another for 2 days, then the first back again for 3 days. I'm assuming they take days off so you may get the same mousekeeper if your trip is only 5 days. We tip daily so the person cleaning the room that day gets the tip. We always leave $5 in a special envelope so they know it is for them. We have never had a maid leave the money.

Whether or not you get towel animals or any other extras has nothing to do with whether or not you tip everyday, or if there are kids in your rooms, it has to do with whether or not your housekeeper has the time or the know-how to do them.

I've read so many posts from people who tip everyday and then stop tipping if they don't get towel animals. Whether or not you get these should not be the basis of whether or not you tip. You should tip based on the level of service (ie, is the room clean, properly stocked with towels, etc.).

I tip on the last day. I tip based on how the service was on the duration of the trip.

Personally, I would hesitate in tipping only at the end of the trip, for the reason that has already been mentioned. I would have no idea if the person cleaning the room on that last day would be the same one that cleaned it all the other days. Does anyone know if maybe the staff "pool" their tips? If that were the case, then it wouldn't matter....

We always tip, no matter where we stay. We leave a tip each morning on a pillow. This has ALWAYS gotten us better service no matter where we have stayed (WDW or otherwise).

Our best story was our first trip to WDW when we stayed at POR. Our youngest DD was in kindergarten, and had brought about 6 or 7 dolls (barbies, magic attic, etc.) with her in a laundry basket. You can only imagine the look on her face when we came back from the park for an after lunch swim and some down time. There, on her bed, were all of her dolls arranged in a circle, with some Disney china - having a tea party!!! Every day, we came back and the dolls were doing something different (one day they were watching TV, another day three of them were getting ready for a bath, etc). It was soooo special. I would like to think that that is the kind of service Disney gives, tip or no tip, and is one reason why so many of us keep coming back!

We have always had clean rooms, plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc and have no qualms about tipping - I appreciate the fact that someone is helping me enjoy my vacation by cleaning!!!!

We leave a tip every day. We have had different mousekeepers during the same stay on several occasions.

We also tip every day. Last year, in a 5 day stay, we had 3 different mousekeepers! Also, one day, I forgot to leave a little "thanks" note, and the money was still where I left it on the table. Every other time, the money was taken when I had the note laying there. I was saddened that she didn't pick up her tip, but also pleasantly surprised that she was so honest as to not take it.
