We ran into a little dilemna this last trip (just returned Saturday) and curious what fellow DISers think.

We always tip the 18-20% recommended. Shift one way or the other based on service. Then we went to 50's Prime Time and had the most awesome waiter. Mikey was the absolute best! He had my husband in tears with his antics. Even brought my daughter an extra dessert. Wonderful experience! When the bill came the suggested tip was based upon percentage of food bought and was under $20. Seemed so cheap after the great experience compared to other places. Let's just say we tipped him more than the 20%.

Now on the Chef Mickey's the next morning for breakfast. The waiter with waaaay too much botox treatments bordered on bored and uninterested. Never cleared any plates until the very end of the meal and didn't offer another beverage besides orange juice until halfway through. Suggested tip was $21-$23. I never cheat a server since I realized that tourists and families can be tough so tipped in that range. Though I left there feeling I shortchanged Mikey.

I don't have a great suggestion for something different, but it was one of those things that made me ponder and want to get feedback.

Thanks! I didn't even know there was a tipping thread. Much appreciated for the info:)
