I thought about using GC for our tips, we are also on DDP.
I was going to buy enough at Sam's Club to pay for all tips--since the GC are discounted there.
I have been buying GC to pay our trip balance and saving quite alot.

I've been buying ours at Sam's Club too. Then I applied them to our Disney Vacation Account to pay for our trip. That way we get a $20 gift card for every $1000 that we spend on booking our trip. I'll be buying more gift cards to use for spending and tipping money.

I was also able to get an extra 5% off of the GCs from Sam's because I have a Chase Freedom Visa and the categories for the past 3 months was for Sam's club with a limit of $300 purchase.
Now I'm using my Capital One Visa and it has 1.5% back.
This is what we did as well. Seemed easier than paying smaller amounts here and there and trying to keep track of partial gift cards.
If you go this route, just make sure your room charges are paid in full before your check out day. I think they can run the charges through on the CC you have on file pretty early that morning. I stopped by and paid ours the afternoon before, on our way to the room from one of the parks. Pretty easy!
Does anyone know if BJs carries the $500 gift card? I only saw $150 last time I was there, but didn't examine empty slots to see what is usually there.
