I'm surprised how long some of you have to wait for a delivered pizza. If I ordered right now, I can pretty much guarantee I'd have my pizza in less than a 1/2 hour. I don't think I could pick it up in less time, allowing for time to make it. Most nights, if I do order pizza, I order it a few hours in advance and specify a delivery time that suits me. They've never missed. In fact, it tends to be 10 minutes early, which I suppose could be a complaint. LOL.
In my case the only two places that deliver are not favorites of ours. I hate the pizza at one and DH hates the pizza at the other.

Our favorite place is between work and home. However its too far away for them to deliver.

We pick up after work alot. We have actually contemplated buying a pizza bag online for this reason...

Chinese food is the same way. The place is on the way home, but this time almost all the way to our house. They take a pretty long time to deliver and the food is not as fresh when they get it to us. If I go and get it myself its always better.

Depends on the amount for me I guess. I don't think much about percentage in these instances, for some reason. If it's $19.87, I'd give $25. If it's $22.14, I'd probably give about $26.

We don't ever get pizza delivered, but $10 seems high to me. Pizza to feed my family of 5 in my area is only $18.

Only if you go by the percentage you'd pay to a server that is serving you at a table - at her place of work

I easily put a $10 value on having someone deliver a hot meal to my home. That is a much more significant service to me.

We very rarely get pizza delivery (we live about 1/4 mile from the pizzeria we like best, and they don't deliver) but if I do, I usually tip about $4-$5, which probably works out to close to 20%

$5 or 20% whichever is higher. Delivery people always say thank you, but aren't overly excited about it, so I assume it's an average tip around here. LOL!!!!

Nothing. We live in a rural area. There is no such thing as pizza delivery here (or any food delivery). The nearest pizza place is 15 miles away.

Yep, that's us too. If we could get pizza delivered I think I'd give them a $100 bill just for the fact they drove all the way out. We do order pizza either from the town I work at and I bring it home from work (you know the ole honey on your way home" deal, DH works from home) or we order it at the nearest town and go pick it up and bring it home or eat there. If we bring it home, it's usually cold unless I happen to catch them right when they are taking it out of the oven and I happen to have the thermal carrying case in my car (it's rare that both of those happen). The Chinese restaurant in the nearest town does deliver and we do the 20% and round up to the nearest dollar for them, oddly enough the pizza joint is in the same strip mall. They used to deliver and everyone in our neighborhood used them but they told us the insurance was too high.

I usually go pick up pizza, because it's close, they charge a $3 delivery charge, and they are slow.
When I do have pizza delivery, it's usually a large order, for a party or the boys have a group over. I usually give them a $10, which is close to 20%.
DS20 delivers for Jimmy Johns. When he is on delivery duty he gets paid $5 an hour, tips are supposed to make up the rest. They charge $1 per sandwich delivery fee, but he doesn't get that. The amount people tip varies greatly. MANY people don't tip at all, even when it's Freaky Fast. Some people are great tippers, but it's rare.

Usually about 20% if they appear to be driving their own car. 15% with one chain where the Pizza Place has delivery cars that employees drive.
But I am the same as others, rarely have pizza delivered, so much quicker to just go pick it up.

We usually only order about $10-$15 worth of pizza and I tip $2-$3 for delivery.

I no longer get delivery though since Domino's decided not to keep working with Shoprunner for free delivery which also means I don't spend my money at Domino's anymore. We'll go pick up pizza at Papa Murphy's to bake at home or most often I make homemade pizza.

I voted never, as we pick up the pizza. And after reading a pizza driver shot someone for being late I think I will keep picking up my pizzas forever.

20% or $5, whichever is more. I used to just do 20% but often I order just a single pizza and my close friend who used to deliver pizzas as a teen said based on his past experiences, he will never tip a pizza guy less than $5, so I adopted that.

I give 5.00 minimum. I used to deliver pizzas as a kid LOL- I remember having to pay for all my own gas and making well below minimum wage too so Tips were what I lived on!

^^^
We generally pick up to save time, but when we get delivery, usually tip around $5.00. And most of the time we're just getting a regular pie which costs around $14, so it's more than 20%.

I would tip our pizza guy about $ 5. Only because that was the easiest thing to hand him. One time a guy looked at me and told me "you're our favorite house" It took me awhile to figure out why. I'm assuming it was the $ 5. Certainly wasn't the frazzeled mom look I had going on :) You know: sweats, messed up hair, no make up and 3 kids climbing all over me :)

Some of the Pizza places around here started charging $2 delivery fee a while back. Ok maybe not a big deal to some, but if you pay the fee, plus a tip, you're adding potentially $7 or more to your order cost. So now I usually just go get it myself unless its for a party / event of some sort, or if its bad weather. But IF we get pizza delivered, if the order is $20 or less, we give $3, but if its bad weather, more. If its over $20, we give more.

Typically that 2.00 delivery fee does not go to the driver at all. I quit delivering pizzas when my job added a delivery fee because people assumed that it went to me towards a tip and didn't give me a tip or only gave a dollar- didn't pay to keep that job then, was costing more in gas than I made in tips!
