I usually tip room service (maid, bagage handler, etc) when I travel. What is the recommended amount for tipping the above hotel personnel in off-site accomodation in Orlando?

merci

Most hotels already add in a tip on your room service bill. If you want to add something then I would say a couple of dollars depending on the bill. If no tip on bill then 15-20% of the bill.

I've heard the general guideline for hotel housekeepers is $1 per person in the room per night. Some people leave it at the end of the stay. Others suggest tipping daily since there could be different housekeepers each day. I know a lot of people don't do this though....it's really up to you.

General guideline for bell hops who bring luggage to your room is $1-$2/bag.

As the other poster said, you need to watch the room service bills for food service brought to your room.....if they already built in a service fee, I usually add on another $2 for the person who delivered it.

I also usually tip $2 for someone bringing something requested to the room, e.g., an iron. I don't usually tip if they need to come to the room to fix something that's broken, e.g., a toilet....in that case I feel like they should tip me!

I never tip housekeeping, or mousekeeping. I figure when I'm paying upwards of $300 per night for a room, cleaning ought to be included! They charge you for everything else--coffee, newspaper, "resort fees", parking, etc., etc., Why should I have to pay to clean the room? I thought that's what I did when I paid for it!

Disney agrees with you, housekeepking is not considered a "tipped" position. The houskeeping employees are paid at least minimum wage.
The price of the hotel room is NOT relevant. You tip the waiter in expensive restaruants.

Actually housekeeping is never considered a "tipped" position anywhere. They make at least the standard min. wage. In a restuarant they don't make the federal min. wage, they can be paid lower because it's expected that people will tip them.

I for one, will admit, I've never tipped housekeeping. It's not because I'm cheap. It's because a clean room should be included in my bill. Half the time I leave the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and clean the room myself. As I can't stand the thought of people being in there when I'm not.

I would however, tip a roomservice waiter. And we do always tip the bellboy (??) if applicable.
