If room service charges 18% gratuity, and $3.00 service charge, are you supposed to tip whoever delivers it to you above and beyond that? Not sure what is customary. Thanks

Well, I don't know if it's customary, but I do. I usually just give an extra few dollars for the delivery. When we were at the Poly, the guy came in, pulled out our little table, put a table cloth on it, and even pulled out dd's chair for her. He was also very cute, so needless to say, he got a pretty darn good tip. :teeth:

The 18% gratuity goes to the delivery person, the $3 service charge does not. In the past, we've given the delivery person an extra $2 or $3.

I travel alot for work. I usually tip the room service delivery person $1-$2 for my meal. I never knew if this was "right" because as the OP said, there is a gratuity and service charge added to the bill automatically. That said, I just never feel right not tipping the person who brings it to me.

If there is a "service charge" of 18% automatically added to the bill and the deliverer just drops it off, or places it on the table, then that is all they get. I used to work in restarants, and I figure the "house" is getting 2% and the restarant manager is getting 1% with server receiving 15%.

Now if they do table setups etc, then I may tip more.
