My family is taking a cruise with my parents in January. We are on the same deck but they are several rooms down from us. They’ve offered to have my son sleep in their room all or part of the time.

If he does sleep in their room and we have different hosts, how should we handle tipping? We will of course tip our host as if we had 4 people in the room the whole time. But I’m not sure what the expectation or etiquette is for the other host. Should we leave cash for my parents to give? Should we add money at guest services? Or do we not bother? I’m honestly not sure what more the host still need to do besides put the bed back up. We haven’t gone with my parents before so I’m not sure how this will all play out.

I’d tip the other host/ess more for having to make up/turn down an extra bed. You (or your parents) can do this at guest services. If your rooms are next to each other - or even near each other - there’s a good chance that you’ll have the same host/ess.

If he's just sleeping there a couple times such that he wouldn't make much additional work for the other stateroom host/hostess, I'd tip them some for that additional work but not the full amount.

We tipped a tid-bit extra on the fantasy when they kids would stay in Grampa / Grandma's room 3-4 times. just straight cash in the envelope... Seemed fair for the unexpected work of pulling the bed out of the cieling.

I would tip him for the times that DS was sleeping w/ the grandparents. I would probably just add cash for the additional tips.

All else being equal I'd add some extra cash to your parents' host's tip since they'd have to deal with an extra bed some nights/mornings... but will your son be booked into your room, or your parents' room? You might want to check on what that might mean in terms of leaving the ship with him, or if you happen to have different muster stations.
