Tipping Question?

So I am trying to finalize my budget for our upcoming Aulani trip and had some general questions about tipping. It has been a while since I have stayed at a place that has the services that Aulani offers and wanted to be prepared.

-We plan on renting a car and will most likely be leaving the resort at least once a day even if it is just for dinner. Do you tip the valet guy every single time he grabs your car for you? If so how much is customary?

- Do you tip the guy bringing up your luggage for you on the first day you arrive? How much is recommended?

-If we opt for room service is the tip a percentage of your bill or a flat dollar amount?

Any other situations where a tip would be expected?

Thanks again for any advice.....

Self parking is easy at Aulani and uses same garages as valet, so we found it faster than valet. But generally I tip $5 for valet. For bags, I tip $1-2 per bag for luggage delivery, more if they provide room feature tour or other services. A lot of times tip is automatically added to room service, but we didn't order room service there, so I'm not sure. We tipped housekeeping $5-10 per day for a two bedroom suite. Have fun!!

- Aulani has a self-park garage so there is no need use the valet unless you want to. When we stay in a place with valet we typically tip $5 when we take the car out - for us that is usually only once a day.

- Tip everyone that touches your luggage: the one that takes the bags out of the car and the one that brings them to the room if it is a different person. $1/bag is customary. You will also want to tip the bellman that helps you with your bags when you check out.

- There is usually a service fee added to room service, but if you choose you can add an additional tip to the bill when you sign the bill. We usually give an extra $5 or so.

- Tips for housekeeping. We usually leave at least $5-10/day depending on the size of the room.

- Other than tips at meals, you might want to budget for tipping the bartenders and servers when ordering from the poolside bars.

Agree with PPs - no need to valet, self park is super easy and close to walk. We gave the bellmen who delivered our bags $5. When we left, we gave the bellmen who picked up our bags $5, and then it happened to be the same bellmen who later brought them out to our car, so he got another $5 from us.
