We just booked Rev. Jack Day for our cremony:thumbsup2

I was wondering if you tip your officiant on top of their fee, and how much? He charges 200.00 so what would we give him?

I didn't tip my officiant. The entire fee is going directly to him and I think if someone "owns the business" so to speak, a tip is not necessary unless they go way above and beyond.

I agree. There are conflicting opinions on this, but I think tipping is generally done at church weddings when you are getting the officiant's services for free but making a donation to the church.

When officiants charge a fee, they have set it at an amount that they feel adequately compensates them for their services. Like other business owners, they generally don't require a tip because all the money from their business already goes to them.

Just in case anyone who IS having a church wedding reads this thread, be sure to tip the altar servers too :thumbsup2 When I was younger doing weddings and getting tips was the only thing that made the whole gig worthwhile.

When I talked to Rev. Jack he told me that his fees were $200 for an escape wedding (no rehersal) and $300 for a Wishes. So I guess it's $200 for the wedding and $100 for the rehersal.

That is what he quoted me too. But on the day of the wedding, he told Mike (the groom) that it was $300.
